The University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire Blugolds (casually known as the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds) are the athletic teams of the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) is a college athletic conference that competes in the NCAA's Division III. In women's gymnastics, it competes alongside Division I and II members, as the NCAA sponsors a single championship event open to members of all NCAA divisions. As the name implies, member teams are located in the state of Wisconsin, although there are three associate members from Minnesota and one from Illinois. Lee Weigel
Lee Elmer Weigel (born November 15, 1963) is a former American football running back. He played college football for the Wisconsin–Eau Claire Blugolds and later had stints with the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). He appeared in two games for the Packers as one of the replacement players during the 1987 NFL strike. Early life Weigel was born on November 15, 1963, in Marshfield, Wisconsin. He grew up on the family farm and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers; he described Eddie Lee Ivery, his favorite player, as his inspiration for playing running back. He attended Marshfield High School and participated on the football and track and field teams. Frank Schade
Frank Schade (born January 22, 1950) is an American former professional basketball player and coach. As a high school junior, Schade played on the Wausau High School Lumberjacks team which finished as runners-up in the 1967 WIAA Boys Basketball Championship. While recruited to play for coach Don Haskins at Texas Western (now the University of Texas at El Paso), he elected to stay in Wisconsin to attend the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire where he scored 1599 points from 1969 to 1972. In his final year at Eau Claire, the Blugolds finished as NAIA national runners-up to Kentucky State University. Schade was selected in the 1972 NBA draft by the Kansas City–Omaha Kings, and played nine games with the team in the 1972–73 NBA season. John Paul Christian Menard (born August 21, 1980) is an American semi-retired professional stock car racing driver who last competed part-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, driving the No. 66 Toyota Tundra for ThorSport Racing. Alexander W. Hicks (born September 4, 1969) is a Canadian former ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Pittsburgh Penguins, San Jose Sharks and the Florida Panthers. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. Ryan Brunt (curler)
Ryan Brunt (born November 18, 1985 in Portage, Wisconsin) is an American curler. He is currently the lead for the Pete Fenson rink. He lives in Bloomington, Minnesota and curls out of the St. Paul Curling Club. He curls with a left-hand delivery. Career Brunt began curling in 1992. He participated in various bonspiels in high school and won the Wisconsin State High School Champions in 2001. He played in the United States Men's Junior Curling Championship five times, and his best finish was bronze in 2007. Brunt began to curl with Pete Fenson and teammates Shawn Rojeski and Joe Polo during the 2010-11 curling season.
