Wisconsin Highway 144
State Trunk Highway 144 (often called Highway 144, STH-144 or WIS 144) is a state highway in southeastern Wisconsin, United States, that runs roughly north–south from Slinger to Random Lake. Route description Starting at Interstate 41/ US Highway 41 (I-41/US 41) at a diamond interchange, WIS 144 proceeds to travel northward. Also, the Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive runs concurrently with part of the highway. It travels adjacent to Big Cedar Lake. After that, in Nabob, the highway then meets WIS 33. At this point, WIS 144 turns east along WIS 33 while the latter continues straight. In West Bend, WIS 33/WIS 144 then meets US 45 at a diamond interchange. Kettle Moraine
Kettle Moraine is a large moraine in the state of Wisconsin, United States. It stretches from Walworth County in the south to Kewaunee County in the north. It has also been referred to as the ''Kettle Range'' and, in geological texts, as the ''Kettle Interlobate Moraine''. Background The moraine was created when the Green Bay Lobe of the Laurentide Ice Sheet, on the west, collided with the Lake Michigan Lobe of that glacier, on the east, depositing sediment. The western lobe formed Green Bay, Lake Winnebago and the Horicon Marsh. The major part of the Kettle Moraine area is considered interlobate moraine, though other types of moraine features, and other glacial features are common. The moraine is dotted with kettles caused by buried glacial ice that calved off the terminus of a receding glacier and got entirely or partly buried in glacial sediment and subsequently melted. Wisconsin Highway 57 (often called Highway 57, STH-57 or WIS 57) is a state highway in Wisconsin, United States. It runs from its southern terminus at Wisconsin Highway 59 in Milwaukee to its northern terminus at Wisconsin Highway 42 in Sister Bay. Much of WIS 57 parallels Interstate 43 (I-43) and WIS 42, particularly from Saukville to its northern terminus in Sister Bay. The highway is concurrent with I-43 for in Ozaukee County. Boltonville, Wisconsin
Boltonville is an unincorporated community located on Stony Creek in the town of Farmington, Washington County, Wisconsin, United States. History Harlow Bolton established the community in 1854. While much of Farmington was settled by German immigrants, Boltonville was a center of Irish immigration. The early settlers used Stony Creek to power grist and saw mills. There was also a cheese factory, as well as shops, a post office, and a school. In 1860, a group of Irish Catholics built a churching the community. The building was replaced by the St. John of God Church in 1891. In 1868, the Sisters of St. Agnes, a Catholic order founded in the Village of Barton, Wisconsin, built a school and a convent on the St. John of God Church property. The nuns served as public school teachers until at least 1892, and also taught parochial classes in the convent until 1879. Farmington is a town in Washington County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,239 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated communities of Boltonville, Cheeseville, Fillmore, and Orchard Grove are located in the town. The unincorporated community of Saint Michaels is also located partially in the town.
