Wisconsin Avenue (Washington, D.C.)
Wisconsin Avenue is a major thoroughfare in Washington, D.C., and its Maryland suburbs. The southern terminus begins in Georgetown, Washington, D.C., Georgetown just north of the Potomac River, at an intersection with K Street (Washington, DC), K Street under the elevated Whitehurst Freeway. The section of Wisconsin Avenue in Georgetown was called High Street before the street names in Georgetown were Georgetown street renaming, changed in 1895 to conform to those of the L'Enfant Plan for the federal city (although Georgetown predates the planned History of Washington, D.C., capital by half a century). Route From the Georgetown riverfront, Wisconsin Avenue climbs steeply north through Washington DC (northwest), Northwest D.C. (see picture above) along two travel lanes, with parked vehicles continuously filling both curb lanes. Wisconsin () is a state in the upper Midwestern United States. Wisconsin is the 25th-largest state by total area and the 20th-most populous. It is bordered by Minnesota to the west, Iowa to the southwest, Illinois to the south, Lake Michigan to the east, Michigan to the northeast, and Lake Superior to the north. The bulk of Wisconsin's population live in areas situated along the shores of Lake Michigan. The largest city, Milwaukee, anchors its largest metropolitan area, followed by Green Bay and Kenosha, the third- and fourth-most-populated Wisconsin cities respectively. The state capital, Madison, is currently the second-most-populated and fastest-growing city in the state.
