The 71st Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in central Wisconsin, the district comprises most of Portage County, including the city of Stevens Point and the villages of Almond, Amherst, Plover, Rosholt, and Whiting. The district also contains the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point campus. Wisconsin Senate, District 24
The 24th Senate District of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin State Senate. Located in central Wisconsin, the district comprises all of Portage County and most of Wood County, as well as the northern half of Adams County, the western half of Waushara County, eastern Jackson County, and northern Monroe County. It contains the cities of Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids, and the U.S. Army base Fort McCoy. William Murat is a former member of the Wisconsin State Assembly. Biography Murat was born on December 4, 1957 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Waushara County, Wisconsin
Waushara County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 24,520. Its county seat is Wautoma. Waushara County is located in central Wisconsin, about north of Madison. History Waushara County was established by an act of the Wisconsin Legislature on February 15, 1851. It originally consisted of a single organized Town of Waushara. In 1852 the county achieved full organization. The county seat was first located at Sacramento and was relocated to Wautoma in 1854 after a bitter fight between proponents of the two places. Waupaca County, Wisconsin
Waupaca County is a county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 51,812. The county seat is Waupaca. The county was created in 1851 and organized in 1853. It is named after the Waupaca River, a Menominee language name meaning 'white sand bottom', 'pale water', or 'tomorrow river'. History Ancient indigenous peoples constructed earthworks that expressed their religious and political concepts. An early European explorer counted 72 such earthen mounds in what is now Waupaca County, many of them in the form of effigy mounds, shaped like "humans, turtles, catfish and others." There were 52 mounds constructed around what is now called Taylor Lake. Most mounds were lost to agricultural development. One mound, shaped like a catfish, is still visible in a private yard along County Hwy. QQ, just east of Taylor Lake. Stan Gruszynski
Stan Gruszynski (born February 6, 1949) is an American farmer and Democratic Party (United States), Democratic politician from Marinette County, Wisconsin. He is a member of the Marinette County board of supervisors since 2020. During the presidency of Barack Obama, he was Wisconsin state director for USDA Rural Development. Earlier in his career, he served five terms in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the Wisconsin's 71st Assembly district, 71st Assembly district from 1985 to 1995. He was also one of Wisconsin's representatives on the Democratic National Committee in 2008, and thus served as a superdelegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Ozaukee County, Wisconsin
Ozaukee County is a county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 91,503. Its county seat is Port Washington, making it one of three Wisconsin counties on Lake Michigan not to have a county seat with the same name. Ozaukee County is included in the Milwaukee– Waukesha–West Allis, WI Metropolitan Statistical Area. Port Washington, Wisconsin
Port Washington is the county seat of Ozaukee County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Located on Lake Michigan's western shore east of Interstate 43, the community is a suburb in the Milwaukee metropolitan area 27 miles north of the City of Milwaukee. The city's artificial harbor at the mouth of Sauk Creek was dredged in the 1870s and was a commercial port until the early 2000s. The population was 11,250 at the 2010 census. When French explorers arrived in the area in the 17th century, they found a Native American village at the mouth of Sauk Creek—the present location of historic downtown Port Washington.
