Wisconsin Assembly, District 68
The 68th Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in Northwestern Wisconsin, the district comprises the eastern half of Eau Claire County and about half of Clark County, as well as part of southeast Chippewa County. The district includes the cities of Altoona, Augusta, Greenwood, Osseo, Owen, Stanley, and Thorp. The district is represented by Republican Karen Hurd, since January 2023. The 68th Assembly district is located within Wisconsin's 23rd Senate district, along with the 67th and 69th Assembly districts. History The district was created in the 1972 redistricting act1971 Wisc. Act 304 which first established the numbered district system, replacing the previous system which allocated districts to specific counties. Milwaukee County is located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. At the 2020 census, the population was 939,489, down from 947,735 in 2010. It is both the most populous and most densely populated county in Wisconsin, and the 45th most populous county nationwide; Milwaukee, its eponymous county seat, is also the most populous city in the state. The county was created in 1834 as part of Michigan Territory and organized the following year. Eau Claire (; ) (French for "clear water") is a city mostly located in Eau Claire County, Wisconsin, of which it is the county seat, and with a small portion in Chippewa County, Wisconsin.
