Wisconsin Assembly, District 14
The 14th Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in southeast Wisconsin, the district comprises parts of western Milwaukee County. It includes most of the city of Wauwatosa and about half of West Allis. The district is represented by Democrat Robyn Vining, since January 2019. The 14th Assembly district is located within Wisconsin's 5th Senate district, along with the 13th and 15th Assembly districts. History The district was created in the 1972 redistricting act1971 Wisc. Act 304 which first established the numbered district system, replacing the previous system which allocated districts to specific counties. The 14th district was drawn mostly in line with the previous Milwaukee County 9th district, but removed all wards of the city of Glendale and added more wards from the city of Milwaukee, from what had previously been the Milwaukee County 18th district. Waukesha County, Wisconsin
Waukesha County () is a county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 406,978, making it the third-most populous county in Wisconsin. Its county seat and largest city is Waukesha. Waukesha County is included in the Milwaukee– Waukesha–West Allis, WI Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Known as forested and prairie land, the region was first home to Indigenous tribes like Menomonie, Ojibwe (Chippewa), Potawatomi, and Ho-Chunk (Winnebago), who practiced agriculture and trade. In 1836, Native American tribes formally lost title to the land when treaties were disregarded and were forcibly removed by the Federal Army. Prior to the 1830s, the area was unoccupied by settlers due to its inland location and the fact that the Fox River was not a water highway. Leah Vukmir
Leah Vukmir (maiden name, née Papachristou; born April 26, 1958) is an American politician and nurse who served as a member of the Wisconsin Senate. A Republican Party of the United States, Republican, she represented Wisconsin Senate, District 5, Wisconsin's 5th District. She previously served in the Wisconsin Assembly. Vukmir was the Republican nominee in the 2018 United States Senate election in Wisconsin, 2018 U.S. Senate election in Wisconsin, running unsuccessfully against incumbent Democratic Party (United States), Democrat Tammy Baldwin. Peggy A. Rosenzweig (born November 5, 1936) is a former member of the Wisconsin State Senate and the Wisconsin State Assembly. She served in the Wisconsin Legislature from 1983 to 2003. David A. Cullen (born February 1, 1960) is an American lawyer who is serving as the current Treasurer of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. Prior to his election, Cullen served as a Democratic member of the Wisconsin State Assembly after winning a special election in May 1990. Cullen was elected in April 2012 to a seat on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, which he held until taking office as County Treasurer.
