Wisconsin's 17th Assembly District
The 17th Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in southeast Wisconsin, the district is entirely contained within the boundaries of the city of Milwaukee in central Milwaukee County. It comprises neighborhoods of Milwaukee's west side, including northern Enderis Park, Capitol Heights, and Lincoln Creek. It includes the historic Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery and Mount Mary University. The district is represented by Democrat Supreme Moore Omokunde, since January 2021. The 17th Assembly district is located within Wisconsin's 6th Senate district, along with the 16th and 18th 18 (eighteen) is the natural number following 17 and preceding 19. The 16th Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in southeast Wisconsin, the district is entirely contained within the boundaries of the city of Milwaukee in central Milwaukee County. It comprises much of downtown Milwaukee, including the campus of Marquette University, Fiserv Forum, the Milwaukee Public Museum, and the Marquette Interchange. The district is represented by Democrat Kalan Haywood, since January 2019. David Crowley (Wisconsin Politician)
David C. Crowley (born May 14, 1986) is an American politician and the 7th County Executive of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. He is the first African American to serve as the county's top official, and, at age 33, also the youngest. He previously represented Milwaukee as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, serving from January 2017 until June 2020. Biography Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Crowley's parents struggled with narcotics addiction in his youth and lost their home when he was just ten years old. La Tonya Johnson
La Tonya Johnson (born June 22, 1972) is an American activist and politician from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She serves in the Wisconsin State Senate, representing the seat formerly held by Nikiya Harris Dodd, having easily defeated her opponents in the Fall 2016 primary election, and being unopposed in the general election. Barbara Toles
Barbara L. Toles (born July 31, 1956) is an American community organizer and Democratic politician from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She served eight years in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Wisconsin's 17th Assembly district from 2004 to 2012. Biography Barbara Toles was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in July 1956. She graduated from Milwaukee's West Division High School in 1973, and went on to earn her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, in 1979. After graduating she went to work as a teacher in Milwaukee and became a member of the American Federation of Teachers union Local 212. While working as a teacher, she continued her own education at Marquette University, and earned her M.Ed. degree in 1997. G. Spencer Coggs (born August 6, 1949) is an American public administrator and Democratic politician. He is the current Milwaukee City Treasurer, since April 2012. He previously served 10 years in the Wisconsin State Senate and 20 years in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Milwaukee's west side. Margaret Ann "Peggy" Krusick (born October 26, 1956) is a retired American Democratic politician. She was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly for nearly thirty years (1983–2013), representing central Milwaukee County. She was defeated in a primary challenge after redistricting, and lost a subsequent write-in campaign. Joseph Czarnezki
Joseph J. Czarnezki (born September 27, 1954) is an American politician and public administrator from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is a member of the Wisconsin Elections Commission, appointed by Governor Tony Evers in 2023. He previously served ten years in the Wisconsin Senate and two years in the State Assembly, representing western Milwaukee County. He also led several city departments under Milwaukee mayor John O.
