Wiregrass Commons Mall
Wiregrass Commons Mall is an enclosed shopping mall located in Dothan, Alabama. It has of shopping with over fifty retail stores and a food court with a carousel. It is Southeast Alabama's largest and only shopping mall. The mall's anchor store, anchor tenants are Belk, Burlington Coat Factory (opened 2009), Dillard's, and J. C. Penney, JCPenney (with Sephora). The mall also includes a Jo-Ann Stores, Jo-Ann Fabric & Crafts store. History Wiregrass Commons Mall opened on August 6, 1986. The original anchors were Gayfers, Parisian (department store), Parisian, and McRae's. With the opening of Wiregrass Commons, the Porter Square Mall located near downtown Dothan closed. The mall was renovated in 2008 with an expansion to the Belk store, carpeting of the mall, removal of the fountain in center court, new lighting, and outside directional signs. Dothan, Alabama
Dothan () is a city in Dale, Henry, and Houston counties and the Houston county seat in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is Alabama's eighth-largest city, with a population of 71,072 at the 2020 census. It is near the state's southeastern corner, about west of Georgia and north of Florida. It is named after the biblical city where Joseph's brothers threw him into a cistern and sold him into slavery in Egypt. Dothan is the principal city of the Dothan, Alabama metropolitan area, which encompasses all of Geneva, Henry, and Houston counties; the small portion in Dale County is part of the Ozark Micropolitan Statistical Area. Together they form the Dothan-Ozark Combined Statistical Area. Coffee County and its Enterprise micropolitan area was originally combined as a statistical area with both Dothan and Ozark as well, but is now split off as its own statistical area by the US Census Bureau.
