Winterton Rangers F.C. are a football club based in Winterton, North Lincolnshire, England. They play in the . History The club was established in 1934. They were originally an intermediate side before becoming members of the Scunthorpe & District League in 1935. Winterton have used just two grounds in their history. They were situated at Watery Lane until 1950 when a piece of land was purchased at West Street. In 1965 they joined the Lincolnshire County League until 1970 when they accepted an invitation to the Yorkshire Football League. Over the next decade they won the Yorkshire Football League on three occasions. They reached the 4th qualifying round of the FA Cup in 1971–72 and 1976–77 and the Quarter-Final stage of the FA Vase in 1976–77. Peter William Daniel (born 12 December 1955 in Hull) is an English former professional football player and now club manager. He is currently manager of non-league side Brigg Town. Career Daniel joined his local club Hull City on schoolboy forms in 1969, becoming an apprentice in 1971, and finally turning professional in September 1973. He played five seasons at Boothferry Park in the Second Division. He played seven times for the England Under 21 side while with Hull, making his debut on 27 April 1977 in a 1–0 win over Scotland U21 at Bramall Lane. In May 1978, he was transferred to First Division Wolverhampton Wanderers for a fee of £182,000. Here, he was converted from a full-back into a defensive midfielder and won a League Cup winners' medal in 1980, gaining an assist in the goal that defeated Nottingham Forest. Winterton is a town in North Lincolnshire, England, north-east of Scunthorpe. The 2021 census found 4,765 inhabitants living in the town. Winterton is located near the banks of the Humber and is south-west of the Humber Bridge which can be seen from many parts of the town. As of 2022, the mayor of Winterton is Marilynne Harrison. History Winterton has a history going back to Roman times and several large mosaic floors and other Roman remains have been found there. In October 1968, during road-widening works on the A1077, workers found a massive stone coffin containing a skeleton later identified as being that of a young woman aged between 20 and 25 years of age, who stood tall (the so-called Winterton Lady).
