Aspen, Colorado
Aspen is a home rule municipality that is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Pitkin County, Colorado, United States. The city population was 7,004 at the 2020 United States Census. Aspen is in a remote area of the Rocky Mountains' Sawatch Range and Elk Mountains, along the Roaring Fork River at an elevation just below above sea level on the Western Slope, west of the Continental Divide. Aspen is now a part of the Glenwood Springs, CO Micropolitan Statistical Area. Founded as a mining camp during the Colorado Silver Boom and later named Aspen for the abundance of aspen trees in the area, the city boomed during the 1880s, its first decade. The boom ended when the Panic of 1893 led to a collapse of the silver market. Toby Miller (9 August 1958) is a British/Australian-American interdisciplinary social scientist with areas of concentration including cultural studies and media studies. He is also the author of several books, numerous articles, and is a guest commentator on television and radio programs across the globe. He was chair of the Department of Media & Cultural Studies at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) and is most recently a professor at Loughborough University. Mark McMorris
Mark Lee McMorris (born December 9, 1993) is a Canadian professional snowboarder who specializes in slopestyle and big air events. A three-time Olympic bronze medallist, he placed third in each of the 2014 Winter Olympics, 2018 Winter Olympics, and 2022 Winter Olympics in the slopestyle event. While filming for Transworld Snowboarding's "Park Sessions" video in March 2011, Mark became the first person to land a Backside Triple Cork 1440. More recently, on April 28, 2018, Mark landed the world first Double Cork off of a rail, the Front-Board Double Cork 1170 with melancholy grab. Maxence Parrot
Maxence "Max" Parrot (born June 6, 1994) is a Canadian snowboarder. He is the reigning Olympic champion in slopestyle, winning gold at the 2022 Winter Olympics and also won a silver in the event at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Parrot has also won six gold medals at the Winter X Games and two gold medals at the Winter X Games Europe. Early life Parrot was born and raised near the Bromont ski area in Quebec. Cassie Sharpe (born September 14, 1992) is a Canadian freestyle skier. Sharpe became the Olympic champion in women's halfpipe after winning gold in Pyeongchang, South Korea at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Rachael Karker (born September 9, 1997) is a Canadian freestyle skier. Career Karker competed at the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships 2019, where she placed fourth in the halfpipe. Maggie Voisin (born December 14, 1998, in Whitefish, Montana) is an American Freestyle skiing, freeskier. She was selected for the U.S. Olympic team to compete in the Freestyle skiing at the 2014 Winter Olympics – Women's slopestyle, women's slopestyle event at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Unfortunately, she fractured her right fibula above her ankle and was unable to compete. Kelly Sildaru (; born 17 February 2002) is an Estonian Olympic freestyle skier. Biography Sildaru won a gold medal in the slopestyle event in the 2016 Winter X Games beating Tiril Sjåstad Christiansen.
