Winslow (band)
Winslow is an indie rock band from Los Angeles, California. Kate Miner and Briana Lane make up the female indie duo. Winslow released their first two singles, "Look at Me Now" and "Out of My Head" off their self-titled EP, ''Winslow'', on June 22, 2018. Their third single, a cover of "Conversation 16" by The National, was released on July, 6th 201 The video for "Out of My Head" was directed by Nora Kirkpatrick of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. In 2019, "Origami Tiger", the last single off of their self titled EP, ''Winslow'', is featured in the indie feature ''Luce'' starring Naomi Watts and Octavia Spencer. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Independent labels such as Flying Nun Records, Flying Nun began to promote the scene across New Zealand, inspiring key college rock bands in the United States such as Pavement (band), Pavement, Pixies (band), Pixies and R.E.M. Kate Miner (born September 7, 1984), also known as Kate Lang Johnson, is an American actress. Notable film credits include ''Fifty Shades of Black'', '' The Campaign'', '' Fired Up'', '' Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon'', and ''A Leading Man''. Miner is a main cast member in seasons 9-11 of the U.S. series '' Shameless '' as Phillip Gallagher’s love interest. Briana Lane (born October 27, 1985) is an American actress and musician. She is best known for her recurring roles on Freeform's ''Young & Hungry'' and '' Switched at Birth'' and her portrayal of Brook Lynn Quartermaine on ABC's ''General Hospital'', for which she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in May 2021. A duet is a musical composition for two performers in which the performers have equal importance to the piece, often a composition involving two singers or two pianists. The National (band)
The National is an American rock band of Cincinnati, Ohio natives, formed in Brooklyn, New York City in 1999. The band consists of Matt Berninger (vocals), twin brothers Aaron Dessner (guitar, piano, keyboards) and Bryce Dessner (guitar, piano, keyboards), as well as brothers Scott Devendorf (bass) and Bryan Devendorf (drums). Nora Kirkpatrick (born December 6, 1984) is an American director, writer and musician. Early life Kirkpatrick grew up in rural Iowa. She graduated from La Quinta High School. She graduated with a BA in theater from UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. Career Kirkpatrick was a founding member and accordion player for the Grammy Award winning and platinum record selling band Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros is an American folk rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 2005. The group is led by singer Alex Ebert. The band's name is based on a story Ebert wrote in his youth, about a messianic figure named Edward Sharpe. Drawing from roots rock, folk, gospel, and psychedelic music, the band's image and sound evoke the hippie movement of the 1960s and 1970s.
