Winfred Peppinck
Winfred Marcel Peppinck (2 January 1946 – 1 October 2020) was an Australian author and former diplomat who served as the Australian Ambassador to the Caribbean at the former High Commission in Bridgetown, Barbados. Biography He was born in The Hague, in the Netherlands on 2 January 1946. His family Annette (mum) Waldemar (dad) and Wido (younger brother) moved to the Dutch East Indies and in 1951 they emigrated to Perth, Western Australia. He received a degree in politics then worked for the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs as a diplomatic trainee. He was assigned to Brazil, South Africa, Uganda and Indonesia. From 2001 to 2004 he was the Ambassador to the Caribbean. From 2004 he served as an advisor to Bahrain prime minister Shaikh Khalifa ibn Salman Al Khalifa. John Howard
John Winston Howard (born 26 July 1939) is an Australian former politician who served as the 25th prime minister of Australia from 1996 to 2007, holding office as leader of the Liberal Party. His eleven-year tenure as prime minister is the second-longest in history, behind only Sir Robert Menzies, who served for eighteen non-consecutive years. Howard was born in Sydney and studied law at the University of Sydney. He was a commercial lawyer before entering parliament. A former federal president of the Young Liberals, he first stood for office at the 1968 New South Wales state election, but lost narrowly. At the 1974 federal election, Howard was elected as a member of parliament (MP) for the division of Bennelong. The Australian High Commissioner to Trinidad and Tobago is an officer of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the head of the High Commission of the Commonwealth of Australia in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. The position has the rank and status of an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and the high commissioner resides in Port of Spain. The high commissioner, since October 2019, is Bruce Lendon. Posting history The Australian Government established a High Commission in Port of Spain in May 2004 and appointed its first resident High Commissioner, John Michell. Previously, responsibility for Australian diplomatic representation in Trinidad and Tobago was held in Canada (1974); Jamaica (1975–1994); and Barbados (1994–2004). The 2011 Bahraini uprising was a series of anti-government protests in Bahrain led by the Shia-dominant and some Sunni minority Bahraini opposition from 2011 until 2014. The protests were inspired by the unrest of the 2011 Arab Spring and protests in Tunisia and Egypt and escalated to daily clashes after the Bahraini government repressed the revolt with the support of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Peninsula Shield Force. The Bahraini protests were a series of demonstrations, amounting to a sustained campaign of non-violent civil disobedience and some violent resistance in the Persian Gulf country of Bahrain. Khalifa Ibn Salman Al Khalifa
Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa ( ar, خليفة بن سلمان آل خليفة) (24 November 1935 – 11 November 2020) was a Bahraini royal and politician who served as the Prime Minister of Bahrain from 10 January 1970 until his death in 2020. He took office over a year before Bahrain's independence on 15 August 1971. He was the longest-serving prime minister in the world. Under the 2002 Constitution he lost some of his powers, with the King now having the authority to appoint and (along with the Bahraini parliament) dismiss ministers.
