"Windswept" is a single performed by Bryan Ferry, the lead vocalist for Roxy Music. The track is the third and final single from the chart-topping album '' Boys and Girls'' which was released in 1985, but unlike the previous singles it did not reach the top 40 in the UK singles chart. The track features Mark Knopfler, the guitarist of Dire Straits. An instrumental version of the track appears as the B-side on the single "Is Your Love Strong Enough?" from the Ridley Scott film ''Legend'' (1985). The UK version of the single has four tracks, with the 3 B-sides all being outtakes from the album '' The Bride Stripped Bare'' (1978); an original track ("Broken Wings") and covers of "Crazy Love" (by Van Morrison) and " Feel the Need" (by Detroit Emeralds). Bryan Ferry Order of the British Empire, CBE (born 26 September 1945) is an English singer and songwriter. His voice has been described as an "elegant, seductive croon". He also established a distinctive image and sartorial style: according to ''The Independent'', Ferry and his contemporary David Bowie influenced a generation with both their music and their appearances. Peter York described Ferry as "an art object" who "should hang in the Tate". Born to a working-class family, Ferry studied fine art and taught at a secondary school before pursuing a career in music. ''The Bride Stripped Bare'' is the fifth solo studio album by English singer Bryan Ferry. It was released in 1978, shortly before Ferry reconvened his band Roxy Music which had been on hiatus for three years. It was recorded after his girlfriend Jerry Hall left him for Mick Jagger in 1977, and appears to contain references to their break-up. The album peaked at number 13 on the albums chart in the United Kingdom. The album's title is taken from the Marcel Duchamp artwork '' The Bride Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors, Even''. Ferry had been introduced to the work as an art school student by Richard Hamilton. A subtext of Duchamp's piece is masculine and feminine relationships. Laurence Treil (born 28 February 1967) is a French model and actress. Sir George Ivan Morrison (born 31 August 1945), known professionally as Van Morrison, is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose recording career spans seven decades. He has won two Grammy Awards. As a teenager in the late 1950s, he played a variety of instruments such as guitar, harmonica, keyboards and saxophone for several Irish showbands, covering the popular hits of that time. The album was Ferry's first solo album in seven years and the first since he had disbanded his band Roxy Music in 1983. The album was Ferry's first and only number one solo album in the UK. Ridley Scott
Sir Ridley Scott (born 30 November 1937) is a British film director and producer. Directing, among others, science fiction films, his work is known for its atmospheric and highly concentrated visual style.
