Windsor Park Plate
The Arrowfield Stud Plate is a New Zealand Thoroughbred horse race run at Hastings Racecourse in Hawke's Bay. The race is registered as the Horlicks Plate and has been previously known as: * the Windsor Park Plate. In 2022 the race sponsor and naming rights changed from the Windsor Park Stud to the Arrowfield Stud. * the Stoney Bridge Stakes from 2004 to 2008. * the Glenmorgan Generous Stakes, in 2003, when it was raced at Otaki. * the Glenmorgan Hawkes Bay Challenge Stakes. It is run over a distance of 1600m in late September or early October. It was a Group 3 race until 2001 and Group 2 until 2004. It is the second of the Hawkes Bay Triple Crown of Group 1 weight-for-age races. The others are: * the 1400m Challenge Stakes currently known as the Tarzino Trophy, and * the 2040m Livamol Classic. Hawke's Bay ( mi, Te Matau-a-Māui) is a local government region on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island. The region's name derives from Hawke Bay, which was named by Captain James Cook in honour of Admiral Edward Hawke. The region is governed by Hawke's Bay Regional Council. Owen Patrick Bosson (born 24 July 1980), known by his short name Opie Bosson, is a jockey in Thoroughbred racing in New Zealand. Riding career Bosson started as an apprentice for Stephen Autridge, his godfather. He began his race-day riding career as a 15 year old on the 25 October 1995 with Comette at Dargaville and soon after had his first win on Fairlie Airlie at Gisborne. Glen Boss (born 21 August 1969 in Caboolture) is an Australian jockey, who is best known for riding Makybe Diva to victory in three consecutive Melbourne Cups: 2003, 2004, and 2005. Starcraft (21 October 2000 - 3 November 2022) was a New Zealand-bred Thoroughbred racehorse who came to international attention when he won the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Newmarket in England in September 2005. He was the winner of five Group One (G1) races in four countries, the 2004 Australian Champion Three Year Old and also the 2005 World Champion Older Turf Miler. Miss Potential
Miss Potential was a champion mare who raced in New Zealand & Australia in the early 2000s. She was sired by the 1993 Prix de la Forêt winner Dolphin Street. Her comeback from a spiral fracture of her near-side cannon bone, resulting in 15 weeks strung up to the ceiling of her box, and subsequent race day performances endeared her to the public. Miss Potential was generally ridden by Reese Jones in New Zealand. Darci Brahma (Danehill-Grand Echezeaux; foaled 21 September 2002) is a New Zealand thoroughbred colt foaled in 2002 at Pencarrow Stud near Cambridge in New Zealand. Seachange (foaled 14 November 2002) is a top New Zealand thoroughbred racehorse. She won a record seven Group I races in New Zealand. Her regular rider in New Zealand was Gavin McKeon. Racing career Seachange began racing in September 2005, as a 3yo, and won her first start at Paeroa by half a length. She won four additional races during that campaign, including the Group I New Zealand 1000 Guineas, and remained undefeated. In July 2006, Seachange won at Waikato. Nom Du Jeu
Nom Du Jeu is a New Zealand thoroughbred racehorse. He won the 2008 AJC Australian Derby, beating Red Ruler in a rare New Zealand quinella in an Group races, Australian Group One race. The win made him the first New Zealand male three-year-old to win an Australian Group One since Our Maizcay in the 1995 Caulfield Guineas, and the first New Zealander to win a Group One in Sydney since Honor Babe in the 2003 Sydney Cup. Nom Du Jeu continued this form as a four-year-old. Jimmy Choux
Jimmy Choux (foaled 10 October 2007) is a New Zealand thoroughbred racehorse. On 5 March 2011, he won the 136th running of the New Zealand Derby. In doing so, he became the first horse since Surfers Paradise in 1990 to win both the New Zealand 2000 Guineas and the New Zealand Derby. Mufhasa (horse)
Mufhasa (foaled 7 September 2004), was a New Zealand Thoroughbred racehorse who won a number of Group races in New Zealand and Australia in a career stretching from 2007 to 2013. He was known as King Mufhasa in Australia. Mufhasa was trained by Stephen McKee and ridden in the majority of his races by Samantha Spratt. Towards the end of his career he was trained by Bruce Wallace and he was cared for throughout his career by strapper Amy Doran. His win in the 2012 Windsor Park Plate was his tenth and final Group 1 victory. Mufhasa was voted the New Zealand Horse of the Year for the 2009 and 2012 seasons.
