Windsor Hotel (Cairo)
The Windsor Hotel (فندق وندسور in Arabic, ''Hôtel Windsor'' in French) is a historic hotel in downtown Cairo, Egypt. Constructed in 1893, it is located near Opera Square and across Alfi Bey Street from the site of the former Shepheard's Hotel, of which it once served as an annex. During the First World War, it served as a British Officers Club, and much of its interior and furnishings date to this period. It has been called "an unrestored ode to the days of British colonial travel." The Windsor Court Hotel is a luxury hotel in the Central Business District of New Orleans, Louisiana. The building rises 253 feet (77 m). It contains 23 floors, and was completed in 1984. In 2011, Travel + Leisure magazine ranked the Windsor Court as the 6th Best Large City Hotel in the United States and Canada. Windsor Court Hotel currently stands as the 37th-tallest building in the city, and the 10th-tallest hotel. The building is an example of modern architecture. The building houses a 4-star hotel with 324 guest rooms and features an extensive collection of European art and antiques valued at more than $8 million. The Gaslamp Quarter is a 16½-block neighborhood in the downtown area of San Diego, California. It extends from Broadway to Harbor Drive, and from 4th to 6th Avenue. The 6th Avenue Hotel - Windsor Hotel, now known as the New Windsor Hotel, is the only 19th century hotel which is still in use in the Phoenix, Arizona, original town-site. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. History In 1881, Phoenix was incorporated as a city. One of the first of several important events which revolutionized the economy of Phoenix was the establishment of a railroad system in the 1880s. Phoenix thus became the most important trade center in Arizona. In 1888, the city offices were moved into a new City Hall, at Washington Street and Central Avenue and in 1889, the territorial capital was moved from the town of Prescott to Phoenix. Windsor Hotel (Manhattan)
The Windsor Hotel was located at 575 Fifth Avenue (at the corner of East 47th Street) in Manhattan, New York. The seven-story hotel opened in 1873, at a time when hotel residency was becoming popular with the wealthy, and was advertised as "the most comfortable and homelike hotel in New York." The Best Western Plus Windsor Hotel at 125 West Lamar Street in Americus, Georgia was built in 1892 to attract winter visitors from the northeastern United States. The five-story Queen Anne hotel was designed by a Swedish-born architect, Gottfried Leonard Norrman, working in Atlanta. It featured a hundred rooms and a three-story atrium. It closed in the early 1970s, but later reopened with 53 guest rooms. The Windsor is a contributing property within the National Register Americus Historic District. Vice-President Thomas R.
