Wimpy Quinn
Wellington Hunt "Wimpy" Quinn (May 14, 1918 – September 1, 1954) was a Major League Baseball pitcher who pitched in three games for the Chicago Cubs in 1941. He threw five innings, all in relief. Quinn played thirteen seasons in the minor leagues, mainly playing first base, but never played that position in the majors. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1.
