Wim Verstappen
Wim Verstappen (4 May 1937 – 24 July 2004) was a Dutch film director and producer, television director, and screen writer. Verstappen grew up in Curaçao. He began studies at the Netherlands Film and Television Academy in 1961, and released his first movie in 1966, ''De minder gelukkige terugkeer van Joszef Katus naar het land van Rembrandt''. He joined the editorial staff of the film magazine ''Skoop'' in 1964, working alongside Nicolai van der Heyde, Gied Jaspars, and Pim de la Parra. From 1966 on he directed and produced films with De la Parra, and in 1967 they founded a production company, Scorpio Films, becoming known as 'Pim & Wim'. Among their productions was the 1971 explicit film ''Blue Movie'', which led to the abolition of the Dutch film rating system for adults. After the demise of Scorpio Films, Verstappen directed two films based on novels by Simon Vestdijk, ''Pastorale 1943'' (1978) and ''Het verboden bacchanaal'' (1981). Gemert is a town in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of Gemert-Bakel. Gemert was a separate municipality until 1997, when it merged with Bakel. Janwillem Van De Wetering
Jan Willem Lincoln "Janwillem" van de Wetering (February 12, 1931 – July 4, 2008) was the author of a number of works in English and Dutch. Biography Van de Wetering was born and raised in Rotterdam, but in later years he lived in South Africa, Japan, London, Colombia, Peru, Australia, Amsterdam and most recently in Surry, Maine, the setting of two of his Grijpstra and de Gier novels and his children's series about the porcupine Hugh Pine. Van de Wetering studied Zen under the guidance of Oda Sessō, together with Walter Nowick, at Daitoku-ji in Kyoto. Van de Wetering lived a year in Daitoku-ji and half a year with Nowick outside the temple, and described his experiences in his book ''The Empty Mirror''. The book includes an account of a visit to the monastery by Hugo Enomiya-Lassalle, describing his own mixed thoughts about this representative of what he deemed an old-fashioned religion. ''Grijpstra & De Gier'' is a 1979 Dutch crime film directed by Wim Verstappen. It is based on the eponymous novel series by Jan Willem van de Wetering (although his name is usually styled Janwillem van de Wetering), specifically ''Het lijk in de Haarlemmer Houttuinen'' (translation: The Body in the Haarlemmer Houttuinen, a former neighbourhood in Amsterdam). The film has also been released as ''Fatal Error'' and ''Outsider in Amsterdam.'' Although the film was not received to critical acclaim, it managed reasonable box-office success. Rijk de Gooyer (17 December 1925 – 2 November 2011) was a Dutch Golden Calf-winning actor, writer, comedian and singer. From the 1950s until the early 1970s, he became well known in The Netherlands as part of a comic duo with John Kraaijkamp, Sr. In the United States best known for having small roles in films such as '' Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht'', ''Soldaat van Oranje'', '' A Time to Die'' and ''The Wilby Conspiracy''.
