Wilston State School
Wilston State School is a heritage-listed state school at Primrose Street, Grange, Queensland, Grange, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1920. Architects who designed the school's buildings include Arthur Gordon Femister Greenway and Blackburne and Gzell. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 12 June 2015. History Wilston State School opened in 1920 in the Brisbane suburb of Wilston, Queensland, Wilston (but now within the suburb boundaries of Grange), to serve the growing suburban population in the Wilston-Grange area. Due to suburban development during the interwar period and after World War II, additional buildings were added to serve the school's needs. Grange is a northern suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Grange had a population of 4,318 people. Geography Grange is located north of the Brisbane central business district, on the southern side of Kedron Brook. It is sometimes referred to as The Grange. Extractivism is the process of extracting natural resources from the Earth to sell on the world market. Sir Manuel Richard Hornibrook Order of the British Empire, OBE (7 August 1893 – 30 May 1970) was an Australian builder and civil engineer. He founded the firm M R Hornibrook Pty Ltd that after merger with Baulderstone became one of the largest Australian civil engineering firms. Known as "MR", Hornibrook was knighted in 1960. Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Matthew Nathan (3 January 1862 – 18 April 1939) was a British soldier and colonial administrator, who variously served as the Governor of Sierra Leone, Gold Coast (British colony), Gold Coast, Hong Kong, Natal and Queensland. He was Under-Secretary for Ireland from 1914 to 1916, and was responsible, with the Chief Secretary, Augustine Birrell, for the administration of Ireland in the years immediately preceding the Easter Rising.
