Wilsonville Public Library
The Wilsonville Public Library (WPL) is the single-location public library of the city of Wilsonville in the U.S. state of Oregon. Established in 1982, the library moved to its present location near Wilsonville Memorial Park in 1988. WPL is a part of the Library Information Network of Clackamas County and serves a population of about 21,900. The library has approximately 155,000 items in its collection with a total circulation of approximately 515,000. History Wilsonville was incorporated in 1969, and in February 1982 dedicated a library. Prior to 1982, library services were provided by the county via a bookmobile. Phila Simmons served as the first librarian of Wilsonville's public library. At that time the library was located on the grounds of the old Wilsonville Grade School on Boones Ferry Road owned by what was then the West Linn School District . Clackamas County, Oregon
Clackamas County is one of the 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of the 2020 census, the population was 421,401, making it Oregon's third-most populous county. Coffee Creek Correctional Facility is a women's prison and prisoner intake center in Wilsonville, Oregon, United States. Operated by the Oregon Department of Corrections, the 1,684-bed facility opened in 2001 at a campus. The selection of the location for the prison was controversial and included legal challenges. The minimum and medium security facility operates several programs designed to teach skills to inmates. Coffee Creek is the only women's prison in Oregon. Female state death row inmates in Oregon are designated to be held in this facility. Gentle Ben is a bear character created by author Walt Morey and first introduced in a 1965 children's novel, ''Gentle Ben''. The original novel told the story of the friendship between a large male bear named Ben and a boy named Mark.
