Wilson W. Sorensen
Wilson Woodruff Sorensen (August 8, 1916 – July 30, 2009) was the president of Utah Technical College (now Utah Valley University, or UVU) from 1946 to 1982. He played a large role in building up and paving the way for the expansion of the school. Biography Sorensen was born in Draper, Utah, and was raised in Draper and Deseret, Utah. He graduated from Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah. As a young man and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), he served as a missionary in the California Mission. Later in life he would continue activity in the LDS Church, serving as a bishop and in a stake presidency. He married Helen Howard in 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had four children and raised their family in Provo, Utah. Helen died in 2000 and their daughter Kathy died in 2001. The ''Deseret News'' () is the oldest continuously operating publication in the American west. Its multi-platform products feature journalism and commentary across the fields of politics, culture, family life, faith, sports, and entertainment. Granite High School (Utah)
Granite High School was a public high school located at 3305 South 500 East in South Salt Lake, Utah. History Granite opened in 1906. In 2005–2006, the enrollment was 1250, but was reduced as the school transformed into an "academy" format. The academies within the school include the Young Parent program for teenage parents with children and the ESL program for new immigrants and refugees. The decision to change from a traditional high school caused some controversy in the local community because it coincided with the removal of all the school's sports programs, many of which had been played for nearly a century. The removal of sports led to increased transfers to outlying schools among the student body at that time. Granite High belonged to the Granite School District. The mascot was the Farmer. A machine tool is a machine for handling or machining metal or other rigid materials, usually by cutting, boring, grinding, shearing, or other forms of deformations. Vocational schools are post-secondary schools (students usually enroll after graduating from high school or obtaining their GEDs) that teach the skills necessary to help students acquire jobs in specific industries. South Jordan, Utah
South Jordan is a city in south central Salt Lake County, Utah, United States, south of Salt Lake City. Part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, the city lies in the Salt Lake Valley along the banks of the Jordan River between the Oquirrh Mountains and the Wasatch Mountains. Sons Of Utah Pioneers
The National Society of the Sons of Utah Pioneers (SUP) is an organization dedicated to preserving the legacy and studying the history of the Mormon Pioneers of Utah and the West. The organization is open to "All good men of every age and circumstance who have an interest in the early Utah Pioneers. It is not necessary to have pioneer ancestry to join." The Sons of Utah Pioneers was officially organized in 1933. The first National president was Lawrence T. Epperson. He was succeeded by Nephi L. Geneva Steel
Geneva Steel was a steel mill located in Vineyard, Utah, United States, founded during World War II to enhance national steel output. It operated from December 1944 to November 2001.
