Wilson Combat is a custom pistol manufacturer located in Berryville, Arkansas, that specializes in customizing and manufacturing M1911A1s. First started under the name "Wilson's Gun Shop" in 1977, Bill Wilson started his new gunsmith business in the back of the family jewelry store, "Wilson's Jewelry", on the corner of Berryville's public square. In 2000, the company bought "Scattergun Technologies", and markets combat shotguns under the name "Wilson Combat Scattergun Technologies". History Some of the first firearms Wilson modified for customers were the Colt 1911-A1, Smith & Wesson Model 10 revolver and Ruger Single Action Revolvers. A .223 Wylde chamber is a hybrid rifle chamber designed to allow .22 caliber barrels to safely fire both .223 Remington and 5.56×45mm NATO ammunition. While the cartridge dimensions of both rounds are the same, 5.56 NATO loads produce pressures in excess of the .223 Remington specifications. The 5.56 chamber has angular differences that allow higher pressures, so .223 Remington can be fired from a 5.56 chamber safely, but with reduced accuracy. The Remington Model 11-87 is a semi-automatic shotgun manufactured by Remington Arms and based on the earlier Model 1100. The Model 11-87 remains in contemporary production, years after being introduced in 1987. Design The Model 11-87 is a gas operated semi-automatic shotgun. Upon firing a shell, some of the high-pressure gases from the burning gunpowder are diverted through two small holes under the barrel, forcing the bolt toward the buttstock, which in turn ejects the spent shell. A spring then forces the bolt forward, sending a new shell from the magazine into the chamber.
