Wilson Chebet
Wilson Kwambai Chebet (born 12 July 1985, in Marakwet District) is a Kenyan professional long-distance runner who specialises in road running competitions. He has a marathon best of 2:05:27 hours. He began competing internationally in 2005 and established himself with a number of circuit wins in his first three years of competition, including the Marseille-Cassis Classique Internationale and America's Finest City Half Marathon. He managed podium finishes at the Granollers Half Marathon, Rotterdam Half Marathon and Delhi Half Marathon in 2008. He represented Kenya at the 2009 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships and helped win the team gold medal. Chebet began pacemaking in marathon races in 2009 and made his competitive debut over the distance in 2010. Tegla Loroupe Peace Race
The Tegla Loroupe Peace Race is an annual 10-kilometre road running event which takes place in November in Kapenguria, West Pokot County, Kenya. First held in 2003, the race was created by Kenyan runner Tegla Loroupe to bring together warriors of rival tribes to reduce conflict in the region. The event features separate 10K races for elite long-distance runners and local warriors. There is also a race for children and a VIP race for politicians and dignitaries. The race raises funds for the Tegla Loroupe Peace Foundation, a charitable body focused education, sports and medical issues. Samuel Kosgei
Samuel Kiplimo Kosgei (January 20, 1986) is a Kenyan-born American long-distance runner who specializes in road running competitions. One of his first international competitions was the Outer Banks Half Marathon in 2007, where he finished first in 1:02:34. The following year he ran at the 2008 World's Best 10K in Puerto Rico where he recorded a time of 28:13 for sixth place. He finished second at the Reims Marathon later that year. He returned to Puerto Rico in 2009 and improved upon his past performance, running a personal best of 27:49 for fourth place behind Wilson Kipsang. Crim 10-Mile Race
The Crim Festival of Races is an annual road running event with several races and walking events. The original distance was and is the marque race as "The Crim" with its infamous Bradley Hills and blue line to keep runners on course. The Crim has been held in August in Flint, Michigan since 1977. It draws runners from around the world from countries such as Kenya, Russia, and Ukraine. The race attracts approximately 50,000 people each year. Silas Sang
Silas Kipngetich Sang (born 21 August 1978) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who mainly competes in half marathon competitions. He is a three-time winner of the Portugal Half Marathon and set his personal best of 1:00:20 hours at the race in 2009. Hailing from Kaptagat in the Rift Valley Province, he began running in international competitions in his early twenties and initially competed in track races in Finland. He was the 2005 winner of the Lidingöloppet Swedish cross country race and also won the Göteborgsvarvet half marathon that year. Working with long-distance coach El-Mostafa Nechchadi, he made his debut over the marathon distance in 2006 at the Madrid Marathon and came second in a time of 2:11:44 hours. It was over the half marathon that he had more success, however, as he had back-to-back victories from 2006 to 2008 in races in Malaga, Torremolinos, Seville and Albacete. Moses Ndiema Masai (born 1 June 1986 in Kapsogom, Mount Elgon District) is a Kenyan runner who specializes in the 10,000 metres. Masai is from Bugaa village, four kilometres from Kapsokwony town. Born to John Barasa Masai and Leonida Cherop, he is the first born out of ten children. He started running while at Kapsogom Primary School. Later he joined Bishop Okiring Secondary School. At the 2005 Kenyan Sports Personality of the Year awards he won the most promising sportsman category. He won a bronze medal at the 2007 IAAF World Athletics Final in the 5000 m. The Association of International Marathons and Distance Races, also known as AIMS, is an association of the organisers of long-distance road running races. It was founded in 1982 at a meeting in London of marathon race directors. Its membership was extended in 1986 to include all road races. In June 2016, over 400 race organisations were members.
