Wilma Maria De Faria
Wilma de Faria (17 February 1945 – 15 June 2017) was a Brazilian politician. She served as the governor of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norte from 2003 to 2010, the first woman to hold the position. She was a member of the AVANTE. Death Wilma de Faria died on 15 June 2017, aged 72, at São Lucas Nursing Home, in Natal, due to multiple organ failure. She was also victim of a cancer in the digestive system, diagnosed two years before. Her corpse was veiled at Our Lady of the Presentation Cathedral and later buried at Morada da Paz Cemetery. Natal ( ) is the capital and largest city of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, located in northeastern Brazil. According to IBGE's 2021 estimate, the city had a total population o896,708 making it the 19th largest city in the country. Natal is a major tourist destination and an exporting hub of crustaceans, carnauba wax and fruits, mostly melon, sugar apple, cashew and papaya. It is the country's closest city to Africa and Europe, with its Greater Natal International Airport connecting Natal with many Brazilian cities and also operating some international flights. It was inaugurated on November 21, 1988, and is located in the district of Cidade Alta in Natal, capital of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norte. It has a style of construction with ascending lines in trapezoidal form quite peculiar. In the basement of the building, there is the Pío X Pastoral Center, where the Archbishop's Office, the Metropolitan Curia, the Cathedral Parish, and the coordination of various Christian pastoral offices are located.
