Willy Schroeders
Willy Schroeders (9 December 1932 in Sint-Agatha-Rode, Huldenberg – 28 October 2017) was a Belgium, Belgian professional road bicycle racer. He was professional from 1955 to 1965. He had 30 professional victories which included three stage wins in the Giro d'Italia as well as wearing the yellow jersey as leader of the general classification in the Tour de France, general classification in the 1962 Tour de France. Huldenberg
Huldenberg () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality comprises the towns and villages of Huldenberg proper, Loonbeek, , Ottenburg and Sint-Agatha-Rode. On January 1, 2011, Huldenberg had a total population of 9,464. The total area is 39.64 km² which gives a population density of 230 inhabitants per km². It is the seat of the Belgian branch of the House of Limburg-Stirum. It has a football club called VK Huldenberg, which was created from a fusion of the clubs FC Huldenberg and VK Rode. Every Tuesday there is a market from 8h - 13h. This market is located at the Gemeenteplein, near town hall. At the end of WW II, Mary Churchill, daughter of the British prime minister, was a member of a British all-women anti-aircraft battery 481 that was stationed at Huldenberg for three months. 1961 Giro D'Italia
The 1961 Giro d'Italia was the 44th running of the Giro d'Italia, one of cycling's Grand Tour races. The Giro started in Turin, on 20 May, with a stage and concluded in Milan, on 11 June, with a leg. A total of 170 riders from 17 teams entered the 21-stage race, which was won by Italian Arnaldo Pambianco of the team. The second and third places were taken by Frenchman Jacques Anquetil and Spaniard Antonio Suárez, respectively. Teams A total of 17 teams were invited to participate in the 1961 Giro d'Italia. Each team sent a squad of ten riders, so the Giro began with a peloton of 170 cyclists. The 1962 Giro d'Italia was the 45th running of the Giro d'Italia, one of cycling's Grand Tour races. The Giro started in Milan, on 19 May, with a stage and concluded back in Milan, on 9 June, with a leg. A total of 130 riders from 13 teams entered the 21-stage race, which was won by Italian Franco Balmamion of the Carpano team.
