Willsboro
Willsboro is a town in Essex County, New York, United States, and lies south of the city of Plattsburgh. As of the 2010 census, the town population was 2,025. The town is named after early landowner William Gilliland. History During the American Revolution, British troops under John Burgoyne camped on the Bouquet River. The region was first settled by Europeans in 1765 by William Gilliland. Originally called "Milltown" by its founder (for the sawmill he located on the falls of the Bouquet River, located in the center of the town), it was renamed "Willsborough" (subsequently shortened to "Willsboro") shortly after the Revolutionary War, in honor of the founder. The town has always had a thriving agricultural and tourism tradition, though the Industrial Revolution made its mark in the community as well. Essex County is a county in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2020 census, the population was 37,381. Its county seat is the hamlet of Elizabethtown. Its name is from the English county of Essex. Essex is one of only 2 counties that are entirely within the Adirondack Park, the other being Hamilton County. Adsit Log House
The Adsit Log Cabin in Willsboro, New York, has long been said to have been built by Samuel Adsit in 1778 and is believed to be one of the oldest log cabins in the United States that still exists in its original location. Adsit was an American Revolutionary War veteran who built the cabin for his family of 16 when he moved to Willsboro Point at some time following the war; the town historian's records suggest that this was soon after 1790. Flat Rock Camp is an Adirondack Great Camp in Willsboro, New York. It is located on Willsboro Point on Lake Champlain. History In 1885, Augustus G. Bouquet River
The Boquet River (or Bouquet River before a 1982 Board on Geographic Names decision) is a small river in upstate New York, United States. The river flows into Lake Champlain at the east border of the Town of Willsboro in Essex County. The Boquet River is 40 miles (64 kilometers) long. Brooklyn Bridge
The Brooklyn Bridge is a hybrid cable-stayed/ suspension bridge in New York City, spanning the East River between the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn.
