Willie Gleeson
William Joseph Gleeson (1893 – 18 November 1975) was an Irish people, Irish hurling, hurler who played as a midfielder for the Limerick GAA, Limerick senior team. Career Gleeson made his first appearance for the team during the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 1915, 1915 championship and became a regular player over the next decade. During that time he won two All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland winner's medals and three Munster Senior Hurling Championship, Munster winner's medals At club level, Gleeson played with Fedamore GAA, Fedamore and Young Irelands GAA (Limerick), Young Irelands and won four Limerick Senior Hurling Championship, county championship winners' medals in a career that spanned three decades. Fedamore GAA
Fedamore GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Fedamore, County Limerick, Ireland. The club fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. The club has won the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship on two occasions in 1912 and 1927. Location The club is located in the parish of Fedamore which is 15km south of Limerick City. It is a member of the East division and neighbouring clubs include Ballybricken/Bohermore, Camogue Rovers, Crecora/Manister and South Liberties with whom Fedamore once had a close rivalry. Young Irelands are a Gaelic Athletic Association Club based in Gowran, County Kilkenny, Ireland. Formed in 1952, they are located on the Chapel Road just outside the village. The Tailteann Games or Aonach Tailteann was an Irish sporting and cultural festival held in the Irish Free State in 1924, 1928, and 1932. It was intended as a modern revival of the Tailteann Games held from legendary times until the Norman invasion of Ireland; as such it drew inspiration from the Modern Olympics revival of the Ancient Olympics. Croke Park, the Dublin headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association, was the venue for the opening ceremony and many of the sports events, which were open to people of Irish birth or ancestry. Railway Cup
The GAA Interprovincial Championship ( ga, An Corn Idir-Chúigeach) or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The Railway Cup was a revival of the Railway Shield which ran from 1905 to 1907 (football) and from 1905 to 1908 (hurling). The first Railway Cup competitions (the name is due to the donation of the trophy by Irish Rail) were held in 1927, with Munster winning the first football title and Leinster winning the first hurling title. Limerick Senior Hurling Championship
The Limerick Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Bon Secours Hospital County Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Limerick SHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Limerick County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs in the county of Limerick in Ireland. It is the most prestigious competition in Limerick hurling. The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at the Gaelic Grounds in October. The prize for the winning team is the John Daly Cup.
