William Wilson Killen
William Wilson Killen (1860 – 20 February 1939) was an Australian politician. Killen was born and educated in County Antrim, Ireland and migrated to Australia with his family in 1876. His father Edward acquired significant pastoral interests, and Killen initially worked on his father's property, "Elsinor", then managed the "Pirillie" property near Bourke, New South Wales, Bourke. He then acquired an interest in the "Bull Plain" property near Corowa, New South Wales, Corowa, founding a Merino stud, and purchased the "Merribee" property near Barellan in 1908, where he resided for many years thereafter. He was a co-founder of the Farmers and Settlers' Association and after many years of involvement was its president from 1920 to 1922. The Division of Riverina is an Australian electoral division in the state of New South Wales. Geography Since 1984, federal electoral division boundaries in Australia have been determined at redistributions by a redistribution committee appointed by the Australian Electoral Commission. Redistributions occur for the boundaries of divisions in a particular state, and they occur every seven years, or sooner if a state's representation entitlement changes or when divisions of a state are malapportioned. ''The Sydney Stock and Station Journal'' was a newspaper published in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia from 1888 to 1924. It was then published as ''Country Life and Stock and Station Journal'' from 1924 to 1978. History ''The Sydney Stock and Station Journal'' was first published in 1888 by Robert MacMillan and the Stock Journal Newspaper Company Ltd. The paper was also the journal of the Fat Stock Salesman's Association of New South Wales. McMillan wrote under the name 'Gossip' and died in February 1929, aged 81. In 1924 it was renamed as ''Country Life and Stock and Station Journal'' and was published under this title until 1978. Charles Young (Australian Politician)
Charles Young (6 October 1825 – 28 February 1908) was a politician in colonial Victoria, Australia. He was a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1874 to 1892, representing the electorates of Kyneton Boroughs (1874–1889) and Electoral district of Kyneton (1889–1892). Young was born at Belfast in Ireland and was educated at Belfast Academy before becoming a sea captain, in which capacity he imported provisions into Ireland from France during the Great Famine. He migrated to Victoria in 1852 and worked as a carrier on the goldfields. His wife and children arrived from Ireland in 1854, and he bought a farm at Kyneton, "Abbeyville" 1855. He worked the farm until becoming a land agent and auctioneer in Kyneton in 1864. Young helped establish the Lauriston and Edgecombe Road Board in 1856, became a member of the board in 1858, and later served as chairman in the early 1860s. Rookwood Cemetery (officially named Rookwood Necropolis) is a heritage-listed cemetery in Rookwood, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The Nationalist Party, also known as the National Party, was an Australian political party. It was formed on 17 February 1917 from a merger between the Commonwealth Liberal Party and the National Labor Party, the latter formed by Prime Minister Billy Hughes and his supporters after the 1916 Labor Party split over World War I conscription.
