William Thompson (cricketer, Born 1866)
William Henry Thompson (18 January 1866 – 28 September 1920) was an English cricketer. Thompson's batting and bowling styles are unknown. He was born at Padiham, Lancashire. Educated at Uppingham School, Thompson made a single first-class appearance for Liverpool and District against Yorkshire in 1892 at Aigburth Cricket Ground, Liverpool. In a match which Liverpool and District won by 6 wickets, Thompson batted once, scoring 10 runs in Liverpool and District's first-innings before he was dismissed by Louis Hall, while with the ball he took a single wicket, that of Thomas Wardall in Yorkshire's second-innings. He died at Southport, Lancashire on 28 September 1920. Padiham ( ) is a town and civil parish on the River Calder, about west of Burnley, Lancashire, England. It forms part of the Borough of Burnley. Originally by the River Calder, it is edged by the foothills of Pendle Hill to the north-west and north-east. Aigburth Cricket Ground, Liverpool
__NOTOC__ Aigburth Cricket Ground in Liverpool, England, is the home of Liverpool Cricket Club. The club was founded in 1807 and is the oldest amateur sports club in Merseyside. The ground hosted its maiden first-class cricket match in 1881, a fixture between Lancashire and Cambridge University. The ground was kept by the former first-class cricketer George Ubsdell for a 12-year period following the end of his first-class career in 1870. Designed by Thomas Harnett Harrison and built in 1880, the pavilion is the oldest remaining at a first-class cricket ground. The first Women's Cricket World Cup was held in England in 1973. During the tournament Aigburth hosted its only Women's One Day International, a match between International XI Women and Trinidad and Tobago Women. Louis Hall (1 November 1852 – 19 November 1915) was an English first-class cricketer who played for Yorkshire from 1873 to 1892. Life and career Born in Batley, Yorkshire, Hall made his first-class debut in 1873, when he played a few matches for Yorkshire with little success. He established his reputation with an innings of 79 for a local Eighteen against the Australian XI in 1878. Thereafter, until 1892, he was a mainstay of Yorkshire.A. A.
