Bill Power (Australian Politician)
William Joseph Power (3 January 1893 – 29 May 1974) was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly and an Alderman in the Brisbane City Council. Early years Power was born in Brisbane, Queensland to Richard and Margaret Power (née Young) in 1893. He did his schooling in Petrie Terrace and worked as a tramwayman. Power became a leading trade union official before deciding to enter state politics. State political career Representing the Labor Party, Power won the new seat of Baroona in Labor's landslide win in the Queensland state election of 1935, convincingly defeating J.E. Streeter of the Douglas Credit Party. When campaigning, he used the slogan "Power for the People". He served as Secretary for Public Works, Housing and Local Government from 1947 to 1950, Secretary for Mines and Immigration from 1950 till 1952, and Attorney-General from 1952 till Labor's defeat from government in 1957. William Grene Power
William Grene Power (24 September 1835 – 14 August 1903) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Council. Biography Power was born in 1835 at Clonmel, South Tipperary, Ireland to Edward Power and his wife Mary Ann (née Grene) and was educated at Carlow College, Ireland. After arriving in Australia he was mayor of Jamieson, Victoria in 1866 and became a managing partner in Perkins & Co and the Queensland Deposit Bank. He was appointed to the Queensland Legislative Council in September 1883, and served for twenty years until his death in August 1903. Power was married to Mary Teresa and together they had seven children. William "Will" Steven Power (born 1 March 1981) is an Australian motorsports driver who currently competes in the IndyCar Series, driving for Team Penske. He is the 2014 and 2022 IndyCar Series champion and the 2018 Indianapolis 500 champion. Power is currently fifth all-time in wins with 41 and first all-time in poles earned in IndyCar history with 68. Australian racing Will Power was born in Toowoomba, Queensland. William Power (21 February 1849 – 11 December 1920) was a Canadian politician. Born in the parish of Sillery, Canada East, the son of William Power and Bridgit Fitzgerald, both Irish, Power was educated at the Commercial Academy of Quebec. A lumber merchant, he was elected to the House of Commons of Canada for Quebec West in a 1902 by-election, after the death of the sitting MP, Richard Reid Dobell. A Liberal, he was re-elected in 1904 but was defeated in 1908. He was elected again in 1911 but did not run in 1917. He married Susan Winifred Rockett. William Gerard Power (April 19, 1882July 8, 1940) was a Canadian politician. Born in the parish of Sillery, Quebec, the son of William Power and Susan Winifred Rockett, Power was educated at the Commercial Academy of Quebec and the College Mont-Saint-Louis in Montreal . A lumber merchant, he joined W & J Sharples in 1897, becoming its president in 1921, until 1929. A partner in the River Ouelle Pulp & Lumber Company. William Power (Quebec Judge)
William Power (September 10, 1800 – July 11, 1860) was a lawyer, judge and political figure in Lower Canada and Canada East. He represented Gaspé in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada from 1832 to 1838. He was born in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, the son of Michael Power, an Irish immigrant, and Elizabeth Tovig. Power was educated in Ireland, then studied law at Quebec City with Norman Fitzgerald Uniacke and then George Vanfelson, and was admitted to the Lower Canada bar in 1826. In 1827, he was named clerk for the Vice Admiralty Court. Power voted against the Ninety-Two Resolutions. He married Suzanne Aubert de Gaspé, the daughter of Philippe-Joseph Aubert de Gaspé, in 1829. He was a captain in the Queen's Volunteers in the Eastern Townships. William Patrick Power, C.S.Sp. (1843–1919) was the first head of Duquesne University, founded as the "Pittsburgh Catholic College of the Holy Ghost". Power was born in 1843 and ordained in 1866; he had spent many years teaching in Spiritan missions in India, Mauritius and Trinidad before coming to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. William Power (30 August 1873 – 13 June 1951) was a Scottish writer, journalist, and politician. He was the leader of the Scottish National Party from 1940 to 1942, and served as President of the Scottish Convention between 1942 and 1951. Early life William Power was born in Woodlands, Glasgow, the eldest of the five children of William Power snr, a commission agent and ship master. He attended Woodside School in Glasgow, but had to leave at the age of fourteen as a result of his father's death at Gibraltar from fever, and found work as a bank clerk at the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Biography He was born in London, and served as Assistant Medical Officer and Medical Inspector for General Sanitary Purposes of the Local Government Board. The entomologist and lecturer of medicine, John Arthur Power was an uncle. In January 1900, he was appointed Chief Medical Officer of England, and served as such until 1908.
