William Phillips (editor)
William Phillips (November 14, 1907 – September 13, 2002) was an American editor, writer and public intellectual who co-founded ''Partisan Review''. Together with co-editor Philip Rahv, Phillips made Partisan Review into one of the foremost journals of politics, literature, and the arts, particularly from the 1930s through the 1950s. In all, Phillips headed up the publication for six decades. He was the last surviving member of the first generation of The New York Intellectuals, which The Guardian described as "that brilliant and cantankerous group who 'argued the world' for decades." Life Phillips was born in New York City. His parents were Jewish immigrants from the Ukraine. Taken back to Russia from ages 1 to 4, he was raised in East Bronx. William David Phillips
William David Phillips (16 August 1855 – 15 October 1918) was a Welsh international rugby union forward who played club rugby for Cardiff Rugby Football Club and international rugby for Wales. He won five caps for Wales and would later become a central figure in the early history of the Welsh Rugby Union. Rugby career Phillips came to note as a rugby player while playing for first class club Cardiff and in the 1879/80 season he was elected as club captain for the first team. Phillips would keep the captaincy for three seasons in total, the first player to regain the captaincy in the club's history. In 1881, Phillips was selected to play for the first representative Welsh international team, in a game against England. Phillips was one of four Cardiff players in the first match, along with B. B. The Johnson Space Center shooting was an incident of hostage taking that occurred on April 20, 2007 in Building 44, the Communication and Tracking Development Laboratory, at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, Texas, United States. The gunman, William Phillips, an employee for Jacobs Engineering who worked at Building 44, shot and killed one person and took a hostage for over three hours before committing suicide. Police said Phillips was under review for poor job performance and he feared being dismissed. William Eric Phillips, CBE, DSO, MC (1892 or 1893 - 1964) was a Canadian businessman. Phillips was the chairman and chief executive officer of Massey Ferguson, at the time of his death the largest producer of farm machinery in the British Commonwealth, and founding chairman of Argus Corporation, a position he held until his death. William Phillips (1731 – 13 May 1781) was a renowned artilleryman and general officer in the British Army who served as a major-general in the American War of Independence. Early career Phillips entered the academy at Woolwich and eventually joined the Royal Artillery. His service at the Battle of Minden led to a reputation as an excellent officer. By the outbreak of the American War of Independence he had risen to the rank of colonel in the British Army. Will Phillips (born 22 May 2002) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited by with the 3rd draft pick in the 2020 AFL draft. Early football Phillips began his junior career playing for the Beverley Hills Football Club in the Yarra Junior Football League, where he played over 100 games from the Auskick to the Under 15s division.
