William Peeples
William T. Peeples (died 10 March 2004) was an American jazz drummer. After studying bebop drumming with Ed Blackwell and "Philly" Joe Jones, he served in Korea before joining Ray Charles Ray Charles Robinson Sr. (September 23, 1930 – June 10, 2004) was an American singer, songwriter, and pianist. He is regarded as one of the most iconic and influential singers in history, and was often referred to by contemporaries as "The Ge ...’ band in the mid-1950s, appearing on “ I Got a Woman”, Charles’ first No. 1 R&B hit in 1954. Tired of touring, in 1960 he retired to South Florida, playing locally with singer Alice Day (singer), Alice Day, and Ira Sullivan and Pete Minger, among other musicians. Bebop
Bebop or bop is a style of jazz developed in the early-to-mid-1940s in the United States. The style features compositions characterized by a fast tempo, complex chord progressions with rapid chord changes and numerous changes of key, instrumental virtuosity, and improvisation based on a combination of harmonic structure, the use of scales and occasional references to the melody. Bebop developed as the younger generation of jazz musicians expanded the creative possibilities of jazz beyond the popular, dance-oriented swing music-style with a new "musician's music" that was not as danceable and demanded close listening.Lott, Eric.
