William P. Rounds
William Prentiss Rounds (August 15, 1827August 5, 1905) was an American businessman, Republican politician, and Wisconsin pioneer. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Senate (1875 & 1876) and State Assembly (1870 & 1871), representing Winnebago County. Biography William P. Rounds was born in Bridgton, Maine, in August 1827. He received a common school education and came to the Wisconsin Territory in 1845, settling in Milton, in Rock County. He moved north to Menasha in 1849, where he served in several local offices. He was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1869, running on the Republican ticket and was subsequently re-elected in 1870. He did not run again in 1871. He represented Winnebago County's 2nd Assembly district, which then comprised roughly the northern-most quarter of the county. Wisconsin's 19th State Senate District
The 19th Senate District of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin State Senate. Located in east-central Wisconsin, the district comprises northern Winnebago County and southwest Outagamie County. It includes most of the city of Appleton, as well as the cities of Menasha and Neenah, roughly constituting the western half of the "Fox Cities". Rock County is a county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 163,687. Its county seat is Janesville. Rock County comprises the Janesville- Beloit, WI Metropolitan Statistical Area and is included in the Madison-Janesville-Beloit, WI Combined Statistical Area. Armine Pickett
Armine Pickett (July 10, 1800April 25, 1875) was an American farmer, politician, and Wisconsin pioneer. He was the first white settler in the town of Utica, Winnebago County, Wisconsin, and the namesake of Pickett, Wisconsin. He also served one term in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing southern Winnebago County in the 1861 session. Biography Armine Pickett was born in July 1800. He resided for some time at Litchfield, Ohio, before moving west to the Wisconsin Territory in 1840. In Wisconsin, he initially settled in Jefferson County, but went north in the fall of 1845 and eventually selected to settle in what is now the town of Utica, Winnebago County, Wisconsin. Although his time in Jefferson County was brief, it did have a lasting impact on the economy of the state due to the actions of his wife, Anne. Menasha, Wisconsin
Menasha () is a city in Calumet and Winnebago counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 18,268 at the 2020 census. Of this, 15,144 were in Winnebago County, and 2,209 were in Calumet County. The city is located mostly in Winnebago County; only a small portion is in the Town of Harrison in Calumet County. Doty Island is located partially in Menasha. The city's name comes from the Winnebago word meaning "thorn" or "island". In the Menominee language, it is known as ''Menāēhsaeh'', meaning "little island". Milton, Wisconsin
Milton is a city in Rock County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 5,716 at the 2020 census. History The city was formed as a result of the 1967 merger of the villages of Milton and Milton Junction. In November of that year, ballots were cast by 1,093 voters from both villages (Milton: 515 to 47 in favor of the merge; Milton Junction: 322 to 201 in favor of the merge), and the referendum to merge the two was approved by 77%. Originally named Prairie du Lac, Milton was settled in 1838 by Joseph Goodrich, who from Alfred, New York came with his family to the locality for religious and educational reasons. As soon as he moved he organized a Seventh Day Baptist Church in November 1840 and in 1844 a school that would later become a college, and he also built an inn, a Milton House, without crossing two trade routes.
