William Myers (British Politician)
William Henry Myers (30 November 1854 – 21 December 1933) was an English Conservative Party (UK), Conservative politician who sat in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, House of Commons from 1892 to 1906. Myers was elected Member of Parliament (United Kingdom), Member of Parliament for Winchester (UK Parliament constituency), Winchester in 1892. He held the seat until 1906. Myers died at the age of 79. 1892 United Kingdom General Election
The 1892 United Kingdom general election was held from 4 to 26 July 1892. It saw the Conservatives, led by Lord Salisbury again win the greatest number of seats, but no longer a majority as William Ewart Gladstone's Liberals won 80 more seats than in the 1886 general election. The Liberal Unionists who had previously supported the Conservative government saw their vote and seat numbers go down. Despite being split between Parnellite and anti-Parnellite factions, the Irish Nationalist vote held up well. As the Liberals did not have a majority on their own, Salisbury refused to resign on hearing the election results and waited to be defeated in a vote of no confidence on 11 August. Gladstone formed a minority government dependent on Irish Nationalist support. The Liberals had engaged in failed attempts at reunification between 1886 and 1887. Richard Moss
Richard Moss (1823 – 2 March 1905) was an English brewer and Conservative politician who sat in the House of Commons in two periods between 1880 and 1892. Moss was the son of Richard Moss of the City of London. He was educated privately and was involved in brewing interests in London before becoming a brewer in Winchester. He was secretary and later chairman of the County Brewers' Society and took part in the amendment of the licensing laws in 1869 and 1872. He was one time master of the Worshipful Company of Scriveners. Guy Baring
Guy Victor Baring (26 February 1873 – 15 September 1916) was a British Army officer and politician. He became a Conservative member of the British House of Commons but was one of 22 Members killed in action in the First World War. Background Baring was a member of the Baring family of Barings Bank, a younger son of Alexander Baring, 4th Baron Ashburton (1835–1889), and his wife Leonora Caroline Digby. He was educated at Eton and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, and was commissioned into the Coldstream Guards in 1893. In 1899 Baring's unit was sent to fight in the South African War, and he was present at the battles of Belmont, Graspan, Modder River, Magersfontein, and Driefontein, as well as the occupation of Bloemfontein. During the fighting in South Africa he was mentioned in despatches, and received the Queen's South Africa Medal with three clasps.
