William McSwain
William Miller McSwain (born 1969) is an American attorney and a former United States Attorney for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, a position he held from April 6, 2018 to January 22, 2021. He was nominated to the post by President Donald Trump. After leaving his position as United States Attorney, U.S. Attorney, McSwain entered private practice at Duane Morris LLP. He then ran, unsuccessfully, for the 2022 Pennsylvania gubernatorial election#Republican primary, Republican nomination for Governor of Pennsylvania in 2022 after which he again returned to private practice. Early life, education, and legal career McSwain graduated from Yale University in 1991. After graduating from Yale, he spent four years in the U.S. Marine Corps as an infantry officer. United States attorneys are officials of the U.S. Department of Justice who serve as the chief federal law enforcement officers in each of the 94 U.S. federal judicial districts.
