William Brian Little
William Brian Little (1942–2000), known as Brian Little, was one of the founding partners of Forstmann Little & Company, a private equity firm. He graduated from Colgate University in 1964, and he later served as the chairman of the board of trustees. An art building at Colgate was named Little Hall after him in 2001. Brian Little worked as a senior vice president at White Weld & Co. in Los Angeles. He briefly continued to work at the firm after it was acquired by Merrill Lynch in 1978, and in the same year founded Forstmann Little with brothers Ted and Nick Forstmann. William John Little
William John Little (1810–1894) was an English surgeon who is credited with the first medical identification of spastic diplegia, when he observed it in the 1860s amongst children. While spasticity surely existed before that point, Little was the first person to medically record the condition in writing. Thus, for many years, spastic diplegia was known as ''Little's Disease''; only later did the name change. Also, Little founded the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital of London. Life Little was born at the Red Lion Inn in Whitechapel. William Little (1839–1916) was an Australian politician and poet. Biography Early life William Little was born on 7 February 1839 in Cumberland, Cumbria, England. He emigrated to Australia with his family in 1851, arriving at Corio Bay when he was twelve years old. Two years later, at the age of fourteen, he got his first job as a messenger in the Geelong Customs House in Geelong and later worked as a clerk for Mr James Oddie. He graduated from the University of Melbourne. Career From 1880 onwards, he worked as an auctioneer, a real estate agent, and an insurance and finance agent in Ballarat. Additionally, he served as a Justice of the Peace. He then served as a City Councillor from 1883 to 1892 and as Mayor of Ballarat from 1889 to 1891. William Little (Pittsburgh Mayor)
William Little (August 8, 1809 – August 26, 1887) was mayor of Pittsburgh, in the US state of Pennsylvania, from 1839 to 1840. Early life Little was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1809. Early in his life, he belonged to the civic/vigilance committee The Duquesne Greys. Later life After leaving the mayor's office he entered the private sector, developing a canal freight business in Ohio before moving further west and starting a successful furniture company in Iowa. By the middle of the century he returned to Pittsburgh to manage the Monongahela Navigation Company. He was also treasurer of a local Pittsburgh bank. He died in 1887 in Pittsburgh, aged 78, and is buried in Allegheny Cemetery. Grady Little
William Grady Little (born March 3, 1950) is a former manager in Major League Baseball, currently working in the front office of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He managed the Boston Red Sox from 2002 to 2003 and the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2006 to 2007. He was inducted into the Kinston, North Carolina, Professional Baseball Hall of Fame in 2001, Charlotte Baseball Hall of Fame 1985 and was inducted into the Hagerstown Suns Hall of Fame on April 13, 2009. In his second season with the Red Sox, Little guided the team to a record of 95–67 and an appearance in the 2003 American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees. William McCarty Little (6 September 1845 – 12 March 1915) was a United States Navy officer of the late 19th century. He is most noted for his contributions to the development of naval wargaming at the United States Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. Biography William McCarty Little (often referred to as "McCarty Little") was born in New York City on 6 September 1845 and entered the United States Naval Academy on 11 March 1863. For the duration of the American Civil War the Naval Academy had been relocated to Newport, Rhode Island, where Little and his wealthy parents had become accustomed to spending their summers. While at the academy, he met Lieutenant (later Rear Admiral) Stephen B. Luce who was to have a great influence in Little's life. Rear Admiral William Nelson Little (December 31, 1852 – January 4, 1925) was a United States naval officer who was court martialed in 1915 on charges of negligence during his inspection of the submarine . This was one of the few times that a retired military person was court martialed. He was not convicted, but Secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels censured him for leaving the Navy no legal recourse against the Electric Boat Company for having supplied defective submarine batteries. Little was born in Newburgh, New York, on December 31, 1852. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1875 and was promoted to rear admiral in 1913. Billy Little (born 3 February 1940) in Dumfries is a Scottish former professional association footballer and manager best known for his time at Aberdeen. Playing career Little joined Aberdeen in 1957, having played for Scottish School boys defeat of England schools at Parkhead in that year.
