William King (Australian Politician)
William Thomas King (24 May 1893 – 2 April 1966) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography King was born in Beaudesert, Queensland, the son of James King and his wife Margaret (née Veale). He was educated at Normanton State School, Cooktown Convent School, Christian Brothers College Ipswich, and Christian Brothers College Brisbane. Upon leaving school he qualified for the civil service, securing the highest pass in his year. He qualified as a solicitor and was called to the bar in 1930. Electoral District Of Maree
Maree was a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Queensland, Australia. History Maree was created by the 1910 Electoral Districts Act, taking effect at the 1912 elections. It was based on Kangaroo Point, Queensland and consisted of the slightly altered Electoral district of Woolloongabba, which was abolished in 1912. Most of the area of Maree and was incorporated into the Electoral district of Norman in 1950. The Parliament of Queensland is the legislature of Queensland, Australia. As provided under the Constitution of Queensland, the Parliament consists of the Monarch of Australia and the Legislative Assembly. It has been the only unicameral state legislature in the country since the upper chamber, the Legislative Council, was abolished in 1922. The Legislative Assembly sits in Parliament House in the state capital, Brisbane. All laws applicable in Queensland are authorised by the Parliament of Queensland, with the exception of specific legislation defined in the Constitution of Australia, very limited criminal law applying under the Australia Act 1986 as well as a small volume of remaining historical laws passed by the Parliament of New South Wales and the Imperial Parliament.
