William Kempe
William Kempe (c. 1560–c. 1603), commonly referred to as Will Kemp, was an English actor and dancer specialising in comic roles and best known for having been one of the original players in early dramas by William Shakespeare. Roles associated with his name may include the great comic creation, Falstaff, and his contemporaries considered him the successor to the great clown of the previous generation, Richard Tarlton. Kempe's success and influence was such that in December 1598 he was one of a core of five actor-shareholders in the Lord Chamberlain's Men alongside Shakespeare and Richard Burbage, but in a short time (possibly after a disagreement among the members of the troupe) he parted company with the group. Despite his fame as a performer and subsequent intent to continue his career, he appears to have died unregarded and in poverty circa 1603. William Herbert Kemp
William Herbert Kemp (April 1881 – 17 January 1957) was a British chemist and a Liberal Party politician who was Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent. Background Kemp was born in Market Harborough, Leicestershire in April 1881. He was educated at Market Harborough Grammar School and Caterham College in Surrey. In 1911 he married Emma Johnson of Hanley, Staffordshire. They had one daughter, Ruth Vincent Kemp. Professional career Kemp was a chemist who first went into business in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire in 1910 where he remained until retirement. He was the first Chairman of the Stoke-on-Trent branch of the Pharmaceutical Society and the last President of the North Staffordshire Chemists Association. Political career In 1921 Kemp was elected to Stoke-on-Trent City Council. In 1927 he was appointed a Justice of the Peace. In 1939 he was appointed an Alderman of the Council. William Kemp (born 29 June 1977) is an English actor and dancer. Life and career Kemp was born in Hertfordshire, England. Trained at the Royal Ballet School, at age 17 he was accepted at dance company Adventures in Motion Pictures (AMP). He won the lead role of The Swan in Matthew Bourne's ''Swan Lake'' from 1997 to 2000 in both London and Broadway. In 2002 he could be seen dancing to " Stuff Like That" in a Peter Lindbergh-directed commercial for Gap's "For Every Generation" campaign and in 2004, he appeared alongside Sarah Jessica Parker in two Francis Lawrence-directed spots, "Color" and "Shine", for Gap's "How Do You Share It" campaign. He famously turned down a lucrative modelling contract with Giorgio Armani, citing not wanting to be confused as a model as opposed to an actor as the reason for his decision. Willy Kemp
Willy Kemp (28 December 1925 – 18 October 2021) was a Luxembourgish professional road bicycle racer. Kemp came from a wealthy home and studied economics. After becoming an amateur 1947 World University Cycling Champion, his parents agreed that he should become a professional cyclist. In 1949 he became national champion. Between 1948 and 1957 he rode every year the Tour de France (10 times in total) and won a stage in the 1955 Tour de France. He died on 18 October 2021, at the age of 95. Prior to his death, he was noted as Luxembourg's oldest living professional cyclist. Willie Kemp, ''King of the Cornkisters'' (born 1888 in Oldmeldrum – 1965) is best known as a singer and writer of Doric comic songs. His family owned a hotel in Oldmeldrum, formerly Kemp's hotel, now Morris's and at an early age Kemp started performing at the hotel. During the early 1920s, Kemp went to Art school in Aberdeen and while there, he joined a concert party. By 1923 he was invited to broadcast for the BBC in Aberdeen. An employee of the Beltona record label heard his broadcasts and he was invited to Beltona's London studios to make recordings. He continued to record with them throughout the 1930s.
