William Jenkyn Thomas
William Jenkyn Thomas (5 July 1870 – 14 March 1959) was a Welsh headmaster and author best known for his ''The Welsh Fairy Book''. He was an undergraduate student at the University of Cambridge and in addition to his writings worked as a lecturer and teacher. He was the first Head Master at Aberdare Intermediate School (1896-1905) and was headmaster (1905-1935) at Hackney Downs School Hackney Downs School was an 11–16 boys, community comprehensive secondary school in Lower Clapton, Greater London, England. It was established in 1876 and closed in 1995. It has been replaced by the Mossbourne Community Academy. History Gr .... Aberdare High School (Welsh: ''Ysgol Uwchradd Aberdâr'') was a comprehensive school in Aberdare, Wales. The school was situated between the villages of Trecynon and Cwmdare and sited opposite the Coleg y Cymoedd site (formerly called Coleg Morgannwg). Over 600 pupils attended the school, which had a separate sports facility, two annexes, an upper school and a lower school. The school was a member of the Cynon Valley 16+ Consortium, which combined the resources of several local schools for sixth form tuition. The school's 'Dare Valley Sports Hall' was used by the public (after school hours) and the pupils of the school.
