William J. Leverett House
The William J. Leverett House is a historic house in the Nob Hill, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Nob Hill neighborhood of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was built in 1928 and is a notable early example of the Pueblo Revival architecture, Pueblo Revival style. The property was listed on the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties in 1985 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. It is also a contributing property in the Monte Vista and College View Historic District. with The house was built as a personal residence and model home by William J. Leverett, the developer of the surrounding Monte Vista subdivision. It has been compared to the James N. Gladding House, which is also a Pueblo-style model home built around the same time in the Spruce Park neighborhood. Corbel
In architecture, a corbel is a structural piece of stone, wood or metal jutting from a wall to carry a superincumbent weight, a type of bracket. Viga (architecture)
Vigas are wooden beams used in the traditional adobe architecture of the American Southwest, especially New Mexico. In this type of construction, the vigas are the main structural members carrying the weight of the roof to the load-bearing exterior walls. The exposed beam ends projecting from the outside of the wall are a defining characteristic of Pueblo architecture and Spanish Colonial architecture in New Mexico and often replicated in modern Pueblo Revival architecture. Usually the vigas are simply peeled logs with a minimum of woodworking.
