William Hank
Lieutenant Commander William Edwin Hank (25 September 1902 – 14 November 1942) was an officer in the United States Navy during World War II. Born at Norfolk, Virginia, Hank graduated from the Naval Academy in 1925. During the years before World War II, he served at various shore stations and in , , and . Commissioned a lieutenant commander in 1940, Hank took control of ''Laffey'' (DD-459) 1 April 1942. He received the Navy Cross for his skillful handling of the ship during the Battle of Cape Esperance. Find a Grave is a website that allows the public to search and add to an online database of cemetery records. It is owned by Ancestry.com. Japanese Battleship Hiei
was a warship of the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War I and World War II. Designed by British naval architect George Thurston, she was the second launched of four s, among the most heavily armed ships in any navy when built. Laid down in 1911 at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal, ''Hiei'' was formally commissioned in 1914. She patrolled off the Chinese coast on several occasions during World War I, and helped with rescue efforts following the 1923 Great Kantō earthquake. Savo Island
Savo Island is an island in Solomon Islands in the southwest South Pacific ocean. Administratively, Savo Island is a part of the Central Province of the Solomon Islands. It is about from the capital Honiara. The principal village is Alialia, in the north of the island. The indigenous language of Savo is the Savosavo language, an East Papuan language.
