William Hanger, 3rd Baron Coleraine
William Hanger, 3rd Baron Coleraine (6 August 1744 – 11 December 1814), styled The Honourable William Hanger between 1762 and 1794, was a British politician. Hanger was the second surviving son of Gabriel Hanger, 1st Baron Coleraine, by Elizabeth Bond, daughter and heiress of Richard Bond, of Hereford. He sat as Member of Parliament for East Retford between 1775 and 1778, for Aldborough between 1778 and 1780 and for St Michael's between 1780 and 1784. In 1794 he succeeded his elder brother John in the barony. This was an Irish peerage and did not entitle him to a seat in the English House of Lords (although it did entitle him to a seat in the Irish House of Lords. ''The Right Honourable'' ( abbreviation: ''Rt Hon.'' or variations) is an honorific style traditionally applied to certain persons and collective bodies in the United Kingdom, the former British Empire and the Commonwealth of Nations. Sir Richard Sutton, 1st Baronet (31 July 1733 – 10 January 1802), of Norwood Park in Nottinghamshire, was a British politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1768 to 1796. Family background and education Sutton was the younger son of the Right Honourable Sir Robert Sutton, KB, MP, politician and diplomat, and Judith Tichborne, previously the third wife and widow of Charles Spencer, 3rd Earl of Sunderland. Baron is a rank of nobility or title of honour, often Hereditary title, hereditary, in various European countries, either current or historical. The female equivalent is baroness. Baron Coleraine
Baron Coleraine is a title that has been created three times, twice in the Peerage of Ireland and once in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. The first creation came in the Peerage of Ireland in 1625 for the courtier Hugh Hare. This creation became extinct on the death of the third Baron in 1749. The second creation came in the Peerage of Ireland in 1762 in favour of Gabriel Hanger, Member of Parliament for Maidstone and Bridgwater. The third Baron represented East Retford, Aldborough and Mitchell in the House of Commons. The fourth Baron was a soldier, politician and eccentric. The title became extinct on his death in 1824. The third creation came in the Peerage of the United Kingdom in 1954 when the Conservative politician Richard Law was made ''Baron Coleraine, of Haltemprice in the East Riding of the County of York''. Sir Christopher Hawkins, 1st Baronet
Sir Christopher Hawkins, 1st Baronet FRS (29 May 1758 – 6 April 1829) was a Cornish landowner, mine-owner, Tory Member of Parliament, and patron of steam power. He was Recorder of Grampound, of Tregony, and of St Ives, Cornwall. The Hawkins family Christopher Hawkins was the second son of Thomas Hawkins of Trewithen, a considerable landowner and former MP for Grampound. Thomas Hawkins had a lifelong fear of smallpox and died following an inoculation to prevent it. Christopher's elder brother John was drowned in the River Thames whilst at Eton, whilst a younger brother Thomas died "of a fever in consequence of eating an ice-cream after dancing." His youngest brother, John Hawkins, survived and became a noted geologist. On his father's death in 1766, Christopher inherited his estates.
