William Gascoigne (died 1540)
Sir William Gascoigne (by 1485 – 1540) of Cardington, Bedfordshire was an English Member of Parliament. He was born the son of George Gascoigne of Cardington. He was pricked High Sheriff of Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire for 1506–07, 1513–14 and 1517–18 and High Sheriff of Northamptonshire for 1518–19. He was knighted in France at 1520 when attending Henry VIII at the Field of the Cloth of Gold and was also present in 1522 at the state visit of the emperor Charles V. He served Cardinal Wolsey as treasurer of the cardinal's household from 1523 to the cardinal's downfall in 1529 and afterwards served as steward to John Neville, 3rd Baron Latimer. John Gostwick
Sir John Gostwick (c.1480 – 15 April 1545) was an English courtier, administrator and MP. Life He was born as the son of John Gostwick in Willington, Bedfordshire, and educated in Potton. Around 1510, he entered the service of Cardinal Wolsey and became a Gentleman Usher to Henry VII. He was also a merchant importing caps and hats from the continent of Europe. By 1517, he was a wax chandler. In 1523, he took on an auditorship at court, and pursued a career as a financial officer. In 1529, Gostwick bought Willington Manor from Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk. He became a member of Gray's Inn and a JP (Justice of the Peace) for Bedfordshire. After Wolsey's death, he worked for his successor Thomas Cromwell in a number of important and lucrative roles, acting as a personal paymaster. George Acworth (1482–1530), of Toddington, Bedfordshire, was an English politician. Career Born by 1482, he was the first son of John Acworth of Luton and his 3rd wife Elizabeth, daughter of John Broughton of Toddington. He held the office of Justice of the Peace in Bedfordshire from 1515 until his death. He was a commander subsidy in 1523 and 1524, and servant of Cardinal Wolsey in 1523.
