William Gairdner (physician)
William Gairdner (11 November 1793 – 28 April 1867) was a Scottish physician and writer. Gairdner was born at Mount Charles, Ayrshire on 11 November 1793. He was son of Robert Gairdner, a captain in the Bengal artillery. He was educated at University of Edinburgh and obtained he M.D. in 1813. He studied in London and worked as physician to the Earl of Bristol. He lived on Bolton Street, London and in 1823 was admitted a licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians."William Gairdner"

Sir William Tennant Gairdner (8 November 1824 – 28 June 1907) was a Scottish Professor of Medicine in the University of Glasgow. Early life William Tennant Gardiner was born in Edinburgh, the son of physician John Gairdner and his wife, Susanna Tennant.''Scotland, Select Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950'' He was the elder brother of the historian James Gairdner. He was educated at the Edinburgh Institution and then in his father's profession at the University of Edinburgh, graduating as M.D. in 1845. Immediately after his graduation he went to Rome for six months. He was taught surgery by Prof Monro and Dr Robert Halliday Gunning. Medical career In 1850 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh; and a year or two later was appointed physician and pathologist to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE). William Henry Temple Gairdner
William Henry Temple Gairdner (31 July 1873 – 22 May 1928) was a British Christian missionary with the Church Missionary Society in Cairo, Egypt. His entire life was dedicated to service in Egypt as he himself commented when he was first preparing to leave.Padwick, C. E. ''Temple Gairdner of Cairo''. London: Society For Promoting Christian Knowledge, 1929. While in Cairo he partnered with his friend Douglas M. Thornton to reach educated Muslims with the gospel of Jesus Christ. This dynamic duo held many lectures in their home, Beit Arabi Pasha, and wrote a weekly magazine, ''Orient and Occident''. After Thornton's death in 1907 Gairdner continued his work in Cairo but was never able to recapture the amount of work that was accomplished when Thornton was at his side. Bill Gairdner
William Douglas Gairdner (October 19, 1940 – January 12, 2024) was a Canadian track and field Athletics (sport), athlete in the men's 400 m hurdles and the men's decathlon at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. He was awarded a silver medal in decathlon event at the 1963 Pan American Games in Brazil. Gairdner attended Appleby College in Oakville, and was a resident of Toronto. Following his hurdling career, he applied himself to the field of academia. He gained his first Master of Arts, M.A. in 1967 (studying Structural Linguistics at Stanford University) and then earned a second one at the institution in 1969 in English Literature and Creative Writing. A year later he graduated with a Ph.D. in English Literature from Stanford. He was a published author and, among his works, BPS Books have published ''The Trouble with Canada'', ''The Trouble with Democracy'' and ''Oh, Oh, Canada!''.
