William Daniel (bishop)
William Daniel ( ga, Uilliam Ó Domhnaill, or Ó Domhnuill) D.D. was an Irish clergyman who served as the Church of Ireland Archbishop of Tuam from 1609 until his death in 1628. Born in Kilkenny, he was one of the first appointed Scholars of Trinity College Dublin, and afterwards one of the college's first elected Fellows. While at Trinity College, he took up the work of translating ''The New Testament (Tiomna Nuadh)'' into Irish. This work was commenced by Nicholas Walsh (Bishop of Ossory), John Kearney (Treasurer of St Patrick's, Dublin), and Nehemiah Donnellan (Archbishop of Tuam), and was printed in 1602. William Daniel (judge)
William Daniel, Jr. (November 26, 1806 – March 28, 1873) was an American slaveowner, lawyer, legislator and jurist who served on the Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, that state's highest court, from 1846 to 1865. Early and family life Daniel was born on November 26, 1806, to Margaret Baldwin Daniel probably in Winchester, Virginia at her parents' home. His father, William Daniel Sr. (1770-1839) was a lawyer, legislator and beginning in 1813 judge of the general court in Cumberland and Campbell Counties based in Lynchburg. His father's second wife, the widow Paulina Jordan (1780-1840) was a daughter of Col. John Cabell (d. 1815) and the widow of Hector Cabell (son of Col. William Cabell), and this man's elder sister Mary Cornelia Briscoe Daniel (1804-1843) married Mayo Cabell and would die at the Cabell estate "Union Hill" after birthing nine children. William Daniel (Maryland Politician)
William Daniel (January 24, 1826 – October 13, 1897) was an American politician from the state of Maryland. A lawyer, he was a noted prohibitionist and abolitionist. He served in both houses of the Maryland state legislature, first as a Whig, and later as a member of the American Party. Later, as a Republican, he was a member of the convention that wrote Maryland's constitution in 1864. He helped found the Maryland Temperance Alliance in 1872 and served as its president for twelve years. Daniel was the vice presidential nominee and running mate of John St. John on the Prohibition Party ticket in the presidential election of 1884. Placing third in the election that year, he continued his involvement with the cause of temperance until his death in 1897. William Barker Daniel
William Barker Daniel (1754–1833) was an English cleric and writer on field sports. Life The son of William Daniel, an attorney, he was born in Colchester. He was educated at Felsted School and Christ's College, Cambridge, earning his B.A. in 1787 and his M.A. in 1790. He was never beneficed. Although he took holy orders in the Church of England, his name is not in Richard Gilbert's ''List of Beneficed Clergy'' (1829). He did receive an appointment as private chaplain to the Prince of Wales, in 1788, which he is thought to have retained for most of his life. Daniel indulged in sporting tastes to a degree which shocked even a tolerant age. A correspondent in the ''Gentleman's Magazine'' of 1802 wrote of him as "fitter to act the character of Nimrod than that of a dignitary in the church of England". Willie Daniel
William Paul Daniel (November 10, 1937 – June 29, 2015) was an American football defensive back who played nine seasons in the NFL. Career Daniel was born in New Albany, Mississippi. He played high school football at Macon High School and in college at Mississippi State. He went undrafted in the 1961 NFL draft but was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played for six seasons and made 11 interceptions and one touchdown. In 1967, he was signed to the Los Angeles Rams, playing for three seasons and making three interceptions. In 1969, a knee injury forced him to retire from football. Post-football career Following retirement, Daniel returned to Starkville and began an insurance company. In 1970, he opened an athletic club, which led to the formation of the Mississippi Racquetball Association in 1975. He also coached junior football and baseball teams. William Chase Daniel (born October 7, 1986) is an American football quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Missouri and was signed by the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2009.
