Bill Clement (rugby Union)
William Harries Clement OBE MC TD (9 April 1915 – 10 February 2007) was a Welsh international wing who played club rugby for Llanelli and was capped six times for Wales. William H. Clement (born December 20, 1950) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who became an author, speaker, actor, entrepreneur, and hockey broadcaster. Clement played 11 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL), and was named an All-Star twice. He spent his first four years with the Philadelphia Flyers, with whom he won two Stanley Cup championships (1974, 1975). Clement later played for the Washington Capitals, whom he captained, and the Flames, both in Atlanta and Calgary. Clement has broadcast five different Olympic Games and has worked for ESPN, NBC, ABC, Versus, Comcast SportsNet and TNT in the U.S., and CTV, CBC, Rogers Sportsnet and Sirius XM Radio in Canada. William Clement (1707 – 15 January 1782) was an Irish academic who spent his whole career at Trinity College Dublin (TCD), teaching botany, natural philosophy, mathematics and medicine there. He was the third Erasmus Smith's Professor of Natural and Experimental Philosophy at TCD (1745-1759). Life and career William Clement was born in Carrickmacross, County Monaghan, son of merchant Thomas Clement. He matriculated at TCD on 28 April 1722 at the age of 14. He was a Scholar in 1724 and received BA (1726), MA (1731). He was elected a Fellow in 1733, and later took medical degrees MB (1747), MD (1748). He was appointed Lecturer in Botany (1733), Erasmus Smith's Professor of Natural and Experimental Philosophy (1745–1759), Donegall Lecturer in Mathematics (1750–1759), and Regius Professor of Physic (1761–1781). William James Clement (1802 – 29 August 1870) was an English surgeon and a Liberal Party politician who was active in local government and sat in the House of Commons from 1865 to 1870. Clement was the son of William Clement who was a medical practitioner in Shrewsbury for over sixty years. He was educated at Shrewsbury School and at the University of Edinburgh. He was an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the Society of Apothecaries, surgeon to the 1st battalion of the Shropshire Rifle Volunteers, and in actual practice as a surgeon. He authored ''Observations in Surgery and Pathology'' and in 1834 was awarded the Fothergillian Gold Medal of the Medical Society of London. William Innell Clement (15 January 1780 – 24 January 1852) was an English newspaper proprietor. Biography Clement was born in the parish of St Clement Danes and baptised at St Anne's Church, Soho. Starting as a newsagent at a young age, he soon became one of the leading vendors in London. In 1814, Clement moved into the newspaper publishing business by purchasing ''The Observer'', at that time a comparatively obscure Sunday paper. Within two years, Clement accepted government funds in return for providing editorial support. Endeavoring to make ''The Observer'' the leading Sunday newspaper, Clement delayed printing the paper until between four and five o'clock on the Sunday morning in order to include the latest news. Yet the paper remained dependent on government funds, with nearly half of its print run given away for free as 'specimen copies'. William Pope Clement, (August 26, 1887 – 1982) was a politician in Ontario, Canada. He served as mayor of Kitchener from 1929 to 1930. The son of Edwin Perry Clement and Janie Elizabeth Bowlby, Clement was born in Berlin (later Kitchener) on August 26, 1887. He was educated there and at the University of Toronto. In 1912, he entered the practice of law in the family firm of Bowlby, Colquhoun and Clement. In 1936, Clement was named King's Counsel. He later served as Crown Attorney for Waterloo County.
