William Andrew Charlton
William Andrew Charlton, (May 9, 1841 – November 9, 1930) was a Canadian lumber merchant, businessman and politician. Born in Cattaraugus County, New York, the son of Adam Charlton, he immigrated to Canada in 1849 with his family. In 1869, he married Nellie Rockwell. Charlton entered politics and was first elected to the Ontario legislature as the Liberal Member of the Legislative Assembly for Norfolk South in the 1890 general election and served until 1904. He served as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in 1903-1904 and was Commissioner of Public Works from 1904 until 1905. Charlton moved to federal politics and won a seat in the House of Commons of Canada as the federal Liberal Member of Parliament for Norfolk in the 1911 federal election. William Charlton (Wisconsin Politician)
William Charlton (October 11, 1831 – May 24, 1908) was an American politician and farmer. Charlton was born in County Armagh, Ireland. In 1843, Charlton emigrated to the United States and eventually settled in Verona, Wisconsin Territory in 1847. He was a farmer and studied law but never practiced law. During the American Civil War, Charlton served in the 11th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment and was commissioned captain. In 1865, Charlton was elected county treasurer for Dane County, Wisconsin Dane County is a county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. He also played for the Corinthians and the England national amateur football team. William Browell Charlton (1855 – 30 January 1932) was a British trade union leader. Charlton was born at Burnt House, just west of Chester-le-Street, in County Durham. He began work coupling at the flats at Edmondsley Colliery when he was eight years old, and then later became a boiler fireman at Littleburn Colliery. The Strange Death Of Liberal England (band)
The Strange Death of Liberal England, also known as TSDOLE, were a five-piece English band from Portsmouth, England. The band took its unusual name from George Dangerfield's 1935 book of the same name, about the early 20th century decline of the Liberal Party. History Forming in 2005 the five piece band began life with mainly instrumental songs, however as they grew as a band lyrics began to appear in their songs. As well as a self-produced and distributed EP, '' Stop/Go Happy/Sad Forward/Forward'' (2005), The Strange Death of Liberal England have released two singles and one "mini-album".
