William Francis Willesee (26 December 1911 – 18 August 2000) was an Australian politician who served as a Australian Labor Party (Western Australian Branch), Labor Party member of the Western Australian Legislative Council, Legislative Council of Western Australia from 1954 to 1974. He was a minister in the government of John Tonkin. Early life Willesee was born in Adelaide, South Australia, to Ethel May (née Flinders) and William Robert Willesee. His father ran for parliament unsuccessfully on three occasions in the 1920s, while his younger brother, Don Willesee, was a senator. Moving to Western Australia as a small child, Willesee attended various schools in the country, and later studied accounting at Perth Technical College. He was employed as a clerk by the Shire of Carnarvon, Carnarvon Municipality from 1936 to 1942, and then joined the Volunteer Defence Corps (Australia), Volunteer Defence Corps, working as a pay clerk. Don Willesee
Donald Robert Willesee (14 April 19169 September 2003) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) and served as a Senator for Western Australia from 1950 to 1975. He held ministerial office in the Whitlam Government as Special Minister of State (1972–1973) and Minister for Foreign Affairs (1973–1975). He also served as Leader of the Opposition in the Senate from 1966 to 1967. Early life Willesee was born in Derby, Western Australia, to Ethel May (née Flinders) and William Robert Willesee, who were originally from South Australia. His older brother, Bill Willesee, was a state parliamentarian. Willesee was educated at state and convent schools at Carnarvon in the same state. Mike Willesee
Michael Robert Willesee, (29 June 1942 – 1 March 2019) was an Australian television journalist, interviewer and presenter. Willesee was the son of politician senator Don Willesee; Mike first came to prominence in 1967 as a reporter for then-new nightly current affairs program ''This Day Tonight'' (''TDT''), where his aggressive style quickly earned him a reputation as a fearless political interviewer. Career Willesee figured prominently in the controversy that erupted over the decision in early 1967 by the Liberal government, led by Prime Minister Harold Holt, not to reappoint the ABC Chairman Dr James Darling. This decision was rumoured to have been the result of the government's anger over critical coverage of its policies on the ABC.
