Willard Rouse II
Willard Goldsmith Rouse II (1910 – October 20, 1971) was an American real estate developer who supported and partnered with his brother Jim Rouse to develop malls, and planned communities. Bill Rouse took on the role of supporter for his brother after the death of their parents in 1930. He funded his education, and secured Navy transport for him from Ernest L. Jahncke to return home from the University of Hawaii. He founded the Rouse Company with his brother. Personal life and family Rouse was found dead in the restroom of a Rouse Mall project in Toledo, Ohio on 20 October 1971. Rouse was the son of Lydia Agnes (Robinson) and attorney Willard Goldsmith Rouse. His son is developer Willard Rouse. Columbia is a census-designated place in Howard County, Maryland. It is one of the principal communities of the Baltimore–Washington metropolitan area. It is a planned community consisting of 10 self-contained villages. Columbia began with the idea that a city could enhance its residents' quality of life. Creator and developer James W. Franklin Park Mall
Franklin Park Mall is a shopping mall in Toledo, Ohio. The anchor stores are Dillard's, Macy's, Dick's Sporting Goods, Forever 21, DSW, and JCPenney. History Developed by The Rouse Company, the mall opened on July 22, 1971, occupying the former site of the Franklin Airport. The mall was built using the Syncon modular building subsystems for an estimated savings of $500,000. When the mall opened, its original anchor stores were Hudson's, J. C. Penney, and local department store Lamson Brothers. The mall comprised about 75 stores in of floor space, with the J. C. Penney anchor being one of the largest in the chain at the time. Mall concourses featured sunken courts before the entrance to each department store, skylights, and a mobile constructed by Alexander Calder in front of the Hudson's entrance. Willard Goldsmith Rouse III (June 19, 1942 – May 27, 2003) was an American real estate developer, best known for his role in the construction of Philadelphia's One Liberty Place. Willard Goldsmith Rouse (April 14, 1867 – July 31, 1930) was an American attorney, businessman, and father of land developer James Rouse. Youth, education, early career Rouse was born in Creswell, Maryland, the son of Harriet Bayliss (Hanway) and John Goldsmith Rouse. The Rouse Company, founded by Hunter Moss and James W. Rouse in 1939, was a publicly held shopping mall and community developer from 1956 until 2004, when General Growth Properties (GGP) purchased the company. Beginnings - Moss-Rouse Company The Moss-Rouse Company was founded as a FHA mortgage company with a loan from Hunter Moss's sister. Rouse leveraged his knowledge as loan guarantee specialist at the Federal Housing Administration to establish a Baltimore-based mortgage company specializing in FHA backed loans. Moss-Rouse hired a World War Two Navy friend, Churchill G. Carey from Connecticut General, who in turn provided capital for future projects.
