Willard Grant Conspiracy
Willard Grant Conspiracy (WGC) was an alt-country band based originally in Boston, Massachusetts and later near Palmdale, California, U.S.. The band operated as a collective, with vocalist and songwriter Robert Fisher the only permanent member throughout its existence. Fisher's voice and Americana style have been compared to both John Cale and Johnny Cash, with most songs being acoustic. History The band was originally formed in Boston in 1995, by North Hollywood, California-raised Robert Fisher (born Robert Neil Fisher, September 9, 1957–February 12, 2017), and Paul Austin. The two had previously collaborated since the early 1980s in Portland, Maine, and in the Flower Tamers. They added guitarist Sean O'Brien to record their debut album, ''3 AM Sunday at Fortune Otto's'', issued on Foster's own Dahlia label. For their 1998 album, ''Flying Low'', released on Rykodisc, the trio added James Apt (guitar), David Michael Curry (viola), Erich Groat (mandolin) and Matt Griffi ...

Rykodisc Artists
Rykodisc is an American record label owned by Warner Music Group, operating as a unit of WMG's Independent Label Group and is distributed through Alternative Distribution Alliance. History Claiming to be the first CD-only independent record label in the United States, Rykodisc was founded in 1983 in Salem, Massachusetts, by Arthur Mann, Rob Simonds, Doug Lexa and Don Rose. The name "Ryko," which the label claimed was a Japanese word meaning "sound from a flash of light," was chosen to reflect the company's CD-only policy. In the late 1980s, however, the label also began to issue high-quality cassette / vinyl and MiniDisc versions of many releases under the name Ryko Analogue. Rykodisc had some notable successes in the CD-reissue industry, as artists such as Elvis Costello, David Bowie, Yoko Ono, Frank Zappa, the estate of Nick Drake, Nine Inch Nails, Sugar, Robert Wyatt, and Mission of Burma allowed Rykodisc to issue their catalogs on CD. Rykodisc also re-released the SST Recor ...

Musical Collectives
Musical collective is a phrase used to describe a group of musicians in which membership is flexible and creative control is shared.Liisa Ladouceur"Collegjthk ctive Souls" ''This Magazine'', November/December 2004. The concept is distinct from that of a traditional band in that musical collectives allow for flexibility in their rosters, and members are free to rotate in and out of the line-up. Collectives may exist in almost any genre of music, although they have been especially prominent in indie rock and hip hop. A musical collective is distinct from a musicians collective, such as the London Musicians Collective, which is an organization with more general aims and larger membership. Notable collectives * Acappella * Alaclair Ensemble * Ambiances Magnetiques * AMM * Amon Düül I *Amungus *Animal Collective *Anticon *Arcade Fire *Archive *Architecture in Helsinki *Army of the Pharaohs * Arrogant Sons of Bitches *ASAP Mob * The Band *Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution *B ...
