William David Sheridan (born 5 July 1987) is an Australian cricketer who has played domestically for Victoria and the Melbourne Renegades. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. The New South Wales men's cricket team (formerly named NSW Blues) are an Australian men's professional first class cricket team based in Sydney, New South Wales. The team competes in the Australian first class cricket competition known as the Sheffield Shield and the limited overs Marsh One-Day Cup. Victorian Premier Cricket
Victorian Premier Cricket is a club cricket competition in the state of Victoria administered by Cricket Victoria. Each club fields four teams (firsts through to fourths) of adult players and usually play on weekends and public holidays. Matches are played on turf wickets under limited-time rules, with most results being decided on a first-innings basis. Outstanding players in the competition are selected to play for the Victorian Bushrangers at first-class and List A level, in the Sheffield Shield and Marsh One Day Cup competitions respectively. The competition commenced in the 1906–07 season when it was known as "District cricket", and was renamed in 1990. Separate competitions for one-day matches (2002–03) and Twenty20 (2005–06) were later established. Monash Tigers
The Richmond Cricket Club is an Australian cricket club based in Glen Waverley in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria. The club plays in the Victorian Premier Cricket Association. Founded in 1854, the Richmond Cricket Club home ground was for most of its history the Richmond Cricket Ground (better known as the Punt Road Oval), a few hundred metres to the east of the Melbourne Cricket Ground. It was a founding member of the Victorian District/Premier Cricket competition in 1906/07. In 2011, the club moved its home base from Richmond to Central Reserve in Glen Waverley. It continued to be known as Richmond until the 2012/13 season. From the 2013/14 season until the 2019/20 season, the club traded as the Monash Tigers but legally remained known as the Richmond Cricket Club. 2011–12 Sheffield Shield Season
The 2011–12 Sheffield Shield season is the 110th season of the Sheffield Shield, the domestic first-class cricket competition of Australia. The season began on 11 October 2011, with Queensland playing Victoria, and concluded on 19 March 2012 with the top two teams playing off in the final. Teams * New South Wales will also host one match at Bankstown Oval in Sydney and Manuka Oval in Canberra. Western Australia Cricket Team
The Western Australian Men’s cricket team, formerly nicknamed the Western Warriors, represent the Australian state of Western Australia in Australian domestic cricket. The team is selected and supported by the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA), and plays its home games at the WACA Ground and Perth Stadium in Perth. In cricket, a five-wicket haul (also known as a "five–for" or "fifer") occurs when a bowler takes five or more wickets in a single innings. This is regarded by critics as a notable achievement, equivalent to a century from a batsman. Taking a five-wicket haul at Lord's earns the bowler a place on the Lord's honours boards.
